Department General Description

Supply Chain

The incumbent is responsible for implementation of Manufacturing, Production, Planning Procurement, Distribution, Development/training of Subordinates and shop-floor employees, Safety and Environment strategies. Control of Supply Chain operating budgets, Capex budget and directing Local Supply Team. Leads Supply Projects with Managers, consulting Finance< Marketing, Sales and Personnel and submits written reports to Head of Business and Regional Supply Director.

Specific Duties: 1. Accountable for ensuring that the products meet the Companys strict quality control specifications.

Ensures that the departments operations are planned to enable activities to be carried out within the budgeted costs.

3. Sets annual standards for measuring performance. 4. Delegates responsibilities to subordinates. 5. Establishes the condition necessary for the co-operative efforts of people. 6. Develops and helps subordinates to improve their knowledge, attitudes and skills in liaison with the Human Resources Department. 7. Participates in the formulation of strategic plans for the Company and Region. 8. Approves man hours (manpower) requirements to fulfill Supply Chain budget for the year 9. Forecasts machinery capacities on medium and long term requirements within the Companys budget. 10. Consults with H.O.B. on recruitment of permanent supply chain workers and contract workers. 11. Proposes and consults with H.O.B. on plant and machinery requirements for sanctioning by RSD. 12. Implements ERM in line with Regional strategies 13. Ensure that there is discipline within the entire Supply Chain Department JOB DESCRIPTION 14. Recommends Supply Chain budget and ensure that fixed expenses are maintained within the agreed budget. 15. Implements manufacturing excellence 16. Identifies and implements in consultation with H.O.B. Regional sourcing opportunities 17. Ensure that deliveries to customers carries out as per laid down procedure. 18. Ensure that quality of packaging and finished products improves and is maintained. 19. Directs Local Supply Team and encourages Team Work. 20. Ensures that Companys targets are achieved. 21. Develops in consultation with H.O.B. and R.S.D. Supply Chain structure. 22. Performs any other duties as and when required.

Specific Factors: Decision Making: Decides on objectives to be accomplished monthly/yearly Decides on the sequence and priority of action steps to be followed in accordance with Companys objectives. Decides on the necessary steps to be taken to ensure that deviations from plans etc. are corrected in succeeding plans. Decides on Supply chain disciplinary action Approve on a number of casual/contract workers required per volume of work or to work extra hours Decides on a type and scheduling of resources requirements Decides on when to write Projects Reports. Pressure of Work: Continued pressure, deadline of every nature and many disturbances requiring urgent attention and change (e.g. Regional and budgetary matters) a lot of rescheduling and planning has to be done.

The incumbent will then have to be constantly making decisions. Controls and Checks: Manpower requirements are approved in consultation with H.O.B. and manpower used as to be justified annually Production outputs and efficiencies, quality, purchases of materials and customer service are compared with planned. Monthly overheads report shows whether budgeting and planning was done correctly Incumbent works mainly on his own but with consultations with H.O.B. and R.S.D. and regular meetings and reports e.g. Action, management, Regional e.t.c

Consequence of Error: If monthly allocations and orders unfulfilled when required, sales for the month are adversely affected. If poor quality products are produced and poor quality packaging received and have to be rejected this costs the Company in terms of Cost, Sales, Loss of goodwill and cost product.

If material stocks are not controlled, it will cost the company through write-offs and if deliveries of orders are delayed, will adversely affect Companys sales. JOB DESCRIPTION

If incorrect recruitment of subordinates is done this would result in substandard performance, inefficient use of labour and large losses may occur. If safety standards are not met, accidents will occur resulting in lost production hours, injury and even death or destruction of company property. If Industrial Relations are bad, workers may resort to go slow action or strikes there by damaging the Companys profit margins and possibly assets. Poor plant selection could affect viability. Education: Relevant Degree/Diploma in Production Management, Engineering or similar.

Experience At least five years experience as manager in production or engineering and six months on the job training..
