Annex II Reading resistor values


Usually, the value of a resistor is coded using color bands. There are four color bands on a resistor. Each color shows a digit. Their corresponding values are shown in the following Color Code Table. The first three digits show the value of the resistor in ohms. The last band gives the production tolerance value. A resistor's value R can be determined by using the following relationship:

R = (10.B1+B2).10 B3
where B1, B2 and B3 show the values of the first three bands. For example, if you have a resistor with the bands: brown, red, yellow and silver, the value of the resistor is 120000 ohms which means 120K ohms.
