AIR COOLERS

An air cooler can be an affordable and economical alternative to air conditioning. Air coolers - also known as evaporative coolers, swamp coolers, and wet air coolers - work on the principle of heat loss during the evaporation process, which results in cooler air. They are much more effective in a very dry climate. (In a more humid climate, an air conditioner will give greater relief from the heat.) Since an air cooler works on the principle of evaporation, it uses a water tank that must be filled periodically. If you live in a region with low to moderate humidity, an air cooler can be significantly cost effective. It is much less expensive to operate than an air conditioner. It is usually comprised of only 2 mechanical parts, the fan motor and water pump. This makes it simpler from a mechanical point of view and thus both easier and less expensive to repair. The process by which an air cooler works is actually quite similar to that of a cool mist humidifier and can significantly improve the humidity level in an extremely arid climate. When maintained properly, it provides effective air filtration against a variety of contaminants and pollutants. Every air conditioner includes an air filter. As a matter of course, this air filter becomes clogged with dust, debris, pollen and other airborne allergens. Therefore maintenance of your air conditioner requires either simple cleaning or replacement of the air filter, depending on the particular model. The importance of this task, to be performed monthly during the operating season, is two-fold: the circulated air is kept clean and the operation of the unit is maintained at a higher efficiency level, keeping operating costs in check. Note that better models have superior filters which serve to clean your air. If you suffer from asthma or from dust, pollen, or other airborne substance-related allergies, or if your home contains such odor-producing elements as house pets, cigarette smoke, or diaper-pails, year-round air filtration will do much to enhance your comfort level. DEHUMIDIFIERS:

In addition to cooling the air, an air coolers dries the air by reducing the amount of humidity in it. Therefore air conditioners also work as de-humidifiers. Of course, a dehumidifier may be needed any time of year to reduce mold, mildew, and harmful allergens. Do you suffer from asthma or allergies, or wish to control

PORTABLE AIR COOLERS:

A portable air cooler is a wonderful option for cooling a single room of small to moderate size, particularly in situations where window space is limited, or where the installation of a regular air conditioner is prohibited or undesirable. Unlike a window air conditioner, a portable air conditioner - also known as a windowless air conditioner - has casters and can be rolled about from room to room. It may be used for the removal of smoke or undesirable odors, as well. The only requirement for a portable air conditioner is access to a window (or, alternatively, to a drop ceiling). This allows the hot air exhaust to be vented outside the room. Since portable air conditioners require no installation, you simply place the exhaust hose in a window with a window venting kit (or otherwise in the drop ceiling with the drop ceiling panel venting kit.) The window venting kit works with any standard double-hung or side-to-side sliding window and can be set up in just a few simple steps: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Place the portable air cooler near the supply. Pour some amount of water for cooling. Place the window venting kit in the window and adjust it so that it fits properly. Close the window on the venting kit so that no air enters through the window. Plug in the air cooler and turn it on. Cool off and Enjoy!

Some portable air coolers include a bucket to collect the water which accumulates. Others feature a more sophisticated self evaporating technology. This means that moisture is extracted from the air into the unit, recycled and used in order to cool it, and then exhausted as hot air through the vent hose. The result is more efficient operation and greater convenience. Single-hose models take the air from the room, cool it, and blow the newlycooled air back into the room. That part of the air which is used for cooling the unit is vented outside through the exhaust hose. Double-hose models draw air from the outside, bringing it into the room through one hose. This air is used to cool off the unit, serving to cool off the room in the process. The hot air created as a result is then vented out through the second hose. Some multi-function portable air conditioners include dehumidifier, air purifier, and heating

MAJOR PARTS: 1.Mechanical part 2.cooling part 3.electrical part Mechanical part: It consists of the following parts window, inside the window it has vertical plates an horizontal plates. And cooler has a fan motor inside it for the rotation of the dust filters and the vertical and the horizontal plates. So it has motor 1 and motor 2 for the operation. motor 1 helps in the rotation of the cylindrical roller where the dust filter is fixed. Hence when the motor 1 operates dust filter. In the motor 2 its rotation helps in the movement of the horizontal and vertical plates. It helps in the angle of flow of air. It moves automatically from left to right due to vertical plates and from top to bottom due to the horizontal plates. Thus motor 2 helps in the angle and direction of the flow of the cool air. Cooling part: cooling part has a dust filter which revolves around the motor of the mechanical part. Lower part of the cooling part get immersed in the water trough at the lower end. Dust filter is made of the sponge material to filter the foreign dust and to reduce the bad odour. The water is filled to the trough adding water through the side funnel. The trough level is indicated by the water level indicator located at side. Water is filled by seeing the indicator

level. Extra cool air is obtained by adding ice cubes or cool water at the access panel located at the top of the little cooler. Cooling part has a extra part called exhaust fan. This takes the humid air from the outside. Thus when the cooler is switched ON the exhaust fan absorbs the humid air from the outside and when the air passes through the filter. The filter that is made wet from the water filters the dust and it cools the air and then allows the cool air to pass through the window. Elecrical part: Elecrical part consists of the assemblies to run the motor 1 and motor 2. Electrical part controls the speed of the horizontal and vertical plates. Three wires are connected to the motor 2. Each wire has an individuality. They operate for the low, medium and high speed of the movement variation of the vertical plates of the little cooler. Electrical connection to those 2 motors are the only electrical part in the little coolers. Hence it is very simple. it costs very less.

NOTE: Do not overfill or under fill the reservoir. Running the Little Cooler with improper coolant levels will damage the pumping system and void the warranty. 1. Remove the access panel on top of the Little Cooler. 2. Find and remove the plastic plug inserted into the reservoir cover to reveal the fill hole. 3. Fill the reservoir with a 50/50 mix of automotive (long-life, low silicate) antifreeze and distilled water. The system will hold 7 to 8 gallons (depending on your piping length). The reservoir is full when liquid is visible in the sight glass. 4. Start the system. After 5 minutes of operation, check the level of liquid in the sight glass. Top off the reservoir if the coolant level is low. 5. Reinstall the plug into the fill hole and replace the Little Coolers access panel.

OPERATION: 1. Once installed, the little cooler requires minimal operator involvement. 2. Check the level of coolant in the sight glass. Top off if necessary. 3. Turn on the Little Cooler before starting the distillation system. 4. Turn off the Little Cooler approximately 1 hour after shutting down the distillation system. This one-hour delay is necessary to condense solvent vapors remaining in the LS unit.

ADVANTAGES *It reduces the air temperature and increases the air density ,that way you will get higher flow rate or mass of air * It will reduce the thermal load of the machinery where the air is intended to be used. *It is extremely low cost compared to other air conditioners. *Its portability make it unique from others. *Ultimate extra cooling can be done by using ice cubes to the access panel.
