FOREWORD Motions live and develop, said an outstanding Russian thinker of the 20th century, Nikolai Bernstein the father of Physiology of Activity and one of the founders of Cybernetics, as the science of formation of movements and governing complex systems is known. Since Bernsteins time, the unveiling of secret life of movements and formulating the rules of non-controversial government of processes of their development became the subject of research for many scientists in the world, and the dream of many coaches. But nature, as is well known, rarely gives away its secrets for free, and is cautious in choosing the ones worthy of such privilege. Because the one who possesses information possesses the world, or at least, can achieve much more than the one for whom knowledge is unavailable, or sadly unaccepted.

As to the secrets of such a phenomenon of movement activity as running, such chosen one appears to be Nicholas Romanov. He seems to be the first to realize that the seeming simplicity of running movements is a pretty insidious trick, and any attempts to construct a running technique in accordance with some vague postulates of sports biomechanics and the proverbial coachs do it like me are very often unsuccessful. Running is a cyclical movement and any learnt error in technique is multiplied in every one of its cycles. Thus, in every running stride a poor health seeker hurts either his Achilles tendon, or the shin, or the knee joint, or the vertebrae column, or the muscles, or the ligaments. As a result, instead of stimulating the strengthening of these parts of his movement apparatus, he is bringing an almost irreparable damage to it himself. Nicholas Romanovs method is built on strictly scientific knowledge of secrets of running in harmony with nature, and common laws of biomechanics of human movement. Its methodological integrity and non-controversial foundation is conditioned by a rational use of gravity as a natural factor of the force field of a running movement, and also by psychological-pedagogical algorhythms of formation of a clear understanding of the essence of running in learners, and the main thing, the formation of sensation of easiness and unconstrainedness of running, with acceptable energy costs. The universality of technology of teaching and perfecting this running technique, offered by Dr. Romanov, lies in the fact that it is useful both for a sports professional, and an amateur athlete, with almost the same level of claims for sports results, and also for any

lady or gentleman, just running for health. All the groups will gain everything they need from this technology both results and health. The only drawback of this method for athletes is its incompatibility with any doping or any other prohibited stimulants for sports or physical capacity for work (efficiency). Amateur runners may have some difficulty in parting with their old belief that they can run in any way, even landing their heels on support, in order to get some load for the heart, vessels, and muscles. They will be offered a very different running style, with a different technique, and quite different sensations and health improving advantages. Just a little note, that the lost opportunities of recreational potential of this new teaching and training technology for such countries as the USA and Russia may be measured in billions of dollars nationally, and in hundreds of thousands in family budgets of its citizens. Closing this introduction to Nicholas Romanovs book, I caught myself on being a little envious for its future readers, who still have ahead of them happy hours of discovering its contents, and enjoying it, which for me have already passed
