Lady Bracknell represents the voice on society and how it values innocence and ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound -Hupocrisy as Bracknell is an educate woman. Hence it is practically unsound and reflects the stance of society on modern education as well as the conservative people that refuse to integrate and accept the industrial revolution. Themes to consider: 1) The double life/bunburying: Is it good or bad? 2) Perception vs reality 3) Is identity fluid/constant/constructed? 4) What is celebrated as virtue? What is right and what is wrong? 5) Are the characters moral? How does immorality manifest itself ? (why does eve ryone lie?) 6) How are the moral standards defined? Can morality be socially defined? What does Algernon represent of Wilde and the Dandy himself? /IN terms of morals = Algernon lie to make life more interesting and has a non-committal attitude t o lying What is moral?
