RESERVATION
Note: As the reservation for persons with disabilities is on horizontal basis, the selected
candidates will be placed in the appropriate category (viz., SC, ST, OBC, General, etc.)
to which they belong.
The number of posts and vacancies as above are tentative and may change as per
requirement of the bank.
2. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
1
A) NATIONALITY/CITIZENSHIP
A candidate must be either (i) a citizen of India or (ii) a subject of Nepal or (iii) a subject of
Bhutan or (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the
intention of permanently settling in India or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from
Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of
Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam
with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to
categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of
eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A candidate in whose case a certificate
of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination/interview conducted by the
Bank/IBPS but on final selection the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary
eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.
B) EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
Minimum 60% marks for Science graduates (55 % for SC/ST/PWD) & 55% for graduates in
other streams (50% for SC/ST/PWD) in aggregate from a recognised University or any
equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Government of India with the same
percentages as stipulated above.
Note:
1. Candidates with additional qualifications as MBA, CA, CFA , MCA etc. shall be
preferred.
2. The candidate must possess the requisite educational qualification as on 01.12.2007.
3. COMPUTER LITERACY - The basic knowledge in operating computer systems in
Windows mode, knowledge of MS-Word/Office, Spread Sheets like MS-Excel and
Internet & Email familiarity is an essential qualification which a candidate must either
possess before joining the bank services or acquire the same within a period of 6 months
of joining the bank, in case the candidate is selected for appointment. For this purpose,
the candidate is required to submit a certificate in support of this computer related
qualification.
C) AGE – Minimum age – 21 years & Maximum age – 30 years as on 01.12.2007 i.e.
applicants should have been born between 01.12.1986 & 02.12.1977 (both days
inclusive)
RELAXATION IN UPPER AGE LIMIT
i) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Candidates by 5 years.
ii) In the case of ex-servicemen and commissioned officers including ECOs/SSCOs
who have rendered at least 5 years military service and have been released on
completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be
completed within the next one year from the last date for receipt of application
other than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or
inefficiency or on account of physical disability attributable to military service or
on availment, (a) by 5 years for selection through written test and interview, (b)
by 3 years plus period of service in Armed Forces for selection through interview
only subject to ceiling as per Government guidelines.
iii) Other Backward Classes candidates by 3 years
iv) All persons who have ordinarily been domiciled in Kashmir Division of J&K
state during 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 by 5 years.
v) Physically Challenged category candidates a) by 15 years for SC/ST, b) by 13
years for OBC & c) by 10 years for General.

Note:
a) An Ex-serviceman who has once joined a government job on the civil side after
availing of the benefits given to him as an Ex-serviceman for his re-employment,
his Ex-serviceman status for the purpose of re-employment in government ceases.
b) The relaxation in upper age limit is cumulative as per Government of India
guidelines.
All persons eligible for age relaxation under (iv) above must produce the domicile
certificate at the time of interview, from the District Magistrate in the Kashmir Division
within whose jurisdiction he/she had ordinarily resided or any other authority designated
in this regard by the Government of J&K, to the effect that the candidate had ordinarily
been domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the state of J&K during 1st January 1980 to
the 31st day of December 1989.

3. SELECTION PROCEDURE
The selection will be made on the basis of performance in written test and interview.
The details of the written test shall be communicated to the candidates in advance.
4. WRITTEN TEST
Note: The candidates shall be required to qualify in each objective test as per cut-off
marks determined on the basis of Group Performance in each test subject to minimum
40% marks (35% in case of SC/ST/OBC/PC candidates) in aggregate out of 200 marks
of the objective test. Wrong answers given in the objective test will result in negative
marks.
b) DESCRIPTIVE TEST
It will consist of 4 questions out of which the candidates are required to attempt 3 questions only.
The test will be of 60 marks (i.e. 20 marks for each question). The minimum passing marks
would be 40% for General Category candidates and 35% for SC, ST, OBC and PC candidates.
Time duration for the test will be 45 minutes. However, the test will be only qualifying and the
marks obtained therein shall not be reckoned for preparing the merit list. The candidates shall
have the option to answer the descriptive test either in English or Hindi. Further, the descriptive
paper will be evaluated to the extent of around 5 times the number of vacancies based on the
merit ranking of the objective test.
Wherever written examination is held, the blind candidates and candidates whose writing
speed is affected by cerebral palsy can use own scribe at their cost during the written
examination. In all such cases where a scribe is used, the following rules will apply:

i) The candidate will have to arrange his own scribe at his own cost
ii) The academic qualification of the scribe should be one grade lower than the
stipulated eligibility criteria
iii) The scribe can be from any academic stream
iv) The scribe should possess 60% or less marks in his own academic stream.
v) Both the candidate as well as the scribe will have to give a suitable undertaking,
confirming that the scribe fulfils all the stipulated eligibility criteria for a scribe
as mentioned above. Further, in case it later transpires that he did not fulfill any
of the laid down eligibility criteria or suppressed material facts, the candidature
of the applicant will stand cancelled, irrespective of the result of the written test.
vi) Such candidates who use a scribe shall be eligible for extra time of 20 minutes for
every hour of the examination.
Note:
i. Request for Change of Centre of Examination shall NOT be entertained.
ii. Bank reserves the right to cancel any of the centres and/or add some other
centres, depending upon the response, administrative feasibility, etc. The bank
also reserves the right to allot the candidate to any of the centres other than the
one he/she has opted for.
(B) PRE-EXAMINATION TRAINING – SC/ST/MINORITY COMMUNITIES
CANDIDATES -
It is proposed to impart free Pre-Examination Training to a limited number of candidates
belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes/Minority Communities at Chennai,
Delhi, Kolkata & Mumbai Centres at the discretion of the Bank. An eligible candidate
who wishes to avail of Pre-Examination Training should fill in the relevant column in the
application format. All expenses regarding traveling, boarding, lodging etc. will be
borne by the candidate for attending the pre-examination training programme at
the concerned Training Centre

NOTE:
(i) Please note that cash, cheques, money orders, postal order, postal stamps etc. will
not be accepted.
(ii) Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PC categories must submit attested photocopy of
certificate regarding Caste/Handicap issued by the Competent Authority without
which their application will be rejected.
7. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
a) The Bank takes no responsibility for any delay in receipt or loss in postal transit of any
application or communication.
b) As the applications are to be processed by a computerized system, it is essential that the
application is strictly in accordance with the prescribed format and properly and
completely filled and contains no corrections/alterations/ overcuttings.
c) A candidate must fill the application form in CAPITAL LETTERS IN HIS/HER OWN
HANDWRITING IN ENGLISH ONLY.
d) A recent, recognizable passport size photograph should be firmly pasted on the
application and should be signed across by the candidate. Three copies of the same
photograph should be retained for use at the time of written examination and interview.
Candidates are advised not to change their appearance till the recruitment process is
complete. Failure to produce the same photograph at the time of written test/interview
may lead to disqualification.
e) Before applying, the candidate should ensure that he/she fulfills the eligibility and other
norms mentioned in this advertisement. Decision of Bank in all matters regarding
eligibility of the candidate, the stages at which such scrutiny of eligibility is to be
undertaken, the documents to be produced for the purpose of the conduct of examination,
interview, selection and any other matter relating to recruitment will be final and binding
on the candidate. No correspondence or personal enquiries shall be entertained by the
Bank/ IBPS in this behalf.
f) The candidates are NOT required to send any Certificate or photocopy thereof in
support of their eligibility except for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PC
category, who are required to submit only an attested copy of their Caste
Certificate/Certificate of Handicap issued by the Competent Authority as specified
below (Clause No. 9). However, these candidates will have to produce original as
well as attested photocopies of the educational certificates and caste certificate, if
any, in support of their eligibility at the time of interview, failing which their
candidature will be cancelled.
g) The candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PC category must attach an attested photocopy
of SC/ST/OBC/PC certificate, issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format
as prescribed by the Government of India. In case of candidates belonging to OBC
category, the certificate inter-alia must specify that the candidate does not belong to
“CREAMY LAYER” section excluded from the benefits of the reservations for Other
Backward Classes in Civil Post & Services under Government of India. OBC Certificate
should not be more than one year old as on the date of application.
h) Physically Challenged candidates claiming the benefit of reservations/age relaxation
should submit a copy of Medical Certificate as specified in the Persons with Disabilities
Act of 1995 in support of their disability.
i) In case it is detected at any stage of recruitment that a candidate does not fulfill the
eligibility norms and/or that he/she has furnished any incorrect/false
information/certificate/documents or has suppressed any material fact(s), his/her
candidature will stand cancelled. If any of these shortcomings is/are detected even after
appointment, his/her services are liable to be terminated.

j) An application not accompanied by requisite application fee, relevant certificate(s),
where necessary or not in the prescribed format or not signed by the candidate or
incomplete in any respect will not be entertained.
k) Application once made will not be allowed to be withdrawn and fee once paid will not be
refunded on any account nor would this fee be held in reserve for any future examination
or selection.
l) The candidates will have to appear for written test and interview at their own expense.
However, eligible SC/ST outstation candidates attending the interview will be
reimbursed to and fro second (sleeper) class rail/bus fare by the shortest route on
production of evidence of travel.
m) Candidates serving in Government/Public Sector Undertakings (including banks) should
send their application through proper channel and produce a “No Objection Certificate”
from their employer at the time of interview, in absence of which, their candidature may
not be considered. An advance copy of the application alongwith original Demand Draft
may be sent to the addressee within the stipulated time. Selected candidates will be
required to produce a valid discharge certificate/relieving letter from their present
employer before joining the service.
n) Only candidates willing to serve anywhere in India should apply.
o) Any request for change of address will not be entertained.
p) Any resultant dispute arising out of this advertisement shall be subject to the sole
jurisdiction of the courts situated at NCT of Delhi.
q) The Bank takes no responsibility to connect any certificate/remittance sent separately.
r) In case any dispute arises on account of interpretation in version other than English,
English version will prevail.
s) No candidate is permitted to use calculator, telephones of any kind, pagers or any other
such instruments.
t) The candidates will appear for the written examination at the allotted centres at their
expenses & risks and the Bank will not be responsible for any injury/losses etc. of any
nature.
u) The Bank may at its discretion hold re-examination wherever necessary in respect of a
centre/venue.
v) Appointment of selected candidates is subject to his/her being declared medically fit as
per the requirement of the Bank. Such appointment will also be subject to the Service &
Conduct Rules of the Bank.
w) The confirmation of the selected candidates in the bank shall be subject to the receipt of
satisfactory report regarding character and antecedents from the Police authorities. In
case of negative report from Police authorities, the services of the appointed candidates
shall be terminated forthwith without assigning any reason.
Candidates are advised in their own interest that they should not furnish any particulars
that are false, tampered, fabricated or should not suppress any material information while
filling up the application form.
At the time of written examination/interview, if a candidate is (or has been) found guilty
of:
(i) using unfair means during the examination or
(ii) impersonating or procuring impersonation by any person or
(iii) misbehaving in the examination hall or taking away the question booklet/answer
sheet from the examination hall or
(iv) resorting to any irregular or improper means in connection with his/her
candidature by selection or

(v) obtaining support for his/her candidature by any means, such a candidate may in
addition to rendering himself/herself liable to criminal prosecution, be liable:
(a) to be disqualified from the examination for which he/she is a
candidate
(b) to be debarred, either permanently or for a specified period, from
any examination or recruitment conducted by Bank/ IBPS.

12. CALL LETTERS FOR THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION
All eligible candidates will be issued call letters by the Bank at the correspondence
address given by the candidate in their application form, which will be sent by post.
An eligible candidate who does not receive the call letter by 11.03.2008 may contact the
Bank’s Office at the following address for respective centre indicating his/her name,
address, details of DD, etc. for taking remedial action. The duplicate call letters will be
issued between 13.03.2008 and 15.03.2008 at the bank’s offices at respective centres.
