of color quality for graphics professionals. Thanks to the
unprecedented CRT-grade gamut of its advanced
SA-Superfine TFT panel and its embedded 10-bit gamma
correction mechanism, it displays pure colors and smooth
gradients. Combined with the LaCie blue eye pro calibrator,

AUTOMATIC HARDWARE CALIBRATION
The LaCie blue eye pro is a complete monitor calibration
and profiling solution for the most demanding professionals
working in graphic design, pre-press, and photography. It is
the ideal complement to the LaCie 321 Monitor. After setting
your preferences, a simple click is all that is
needed for calibration. The software
directly adjusts the monitor
through the Display Data
Channel (DDC) interface, and
automatically creates and
activates an ICC Profile, which
ensures consistent colors
throughout your workflow.
COMPLETE COLOR ANALYSIS
Thanks to the Color Test module, it is easy to quickly verify
the colorimetric characteristics displayed by your LaCie 321
Monitor - in particular its White Point Temperature, Gamma
and Luminance. You can therefore easily verify the accuracy
of your monitor’s color rendering and knowingly decide if a
new calibration is necessary. The Color Test module also
allows you to create and save Reports that precisely describe
your monitor’s color settings.
ADVANCED ICC PROFILING
During each calibration, LaCie’s blue eye pro saves the
exclusive hardware settings that correspond to your chosen
colorimetric environment within the ICC Profile it creates.
Such advanced ICC Profiles allow you to switch from one
colorimetric environment to another. For example, you can
change from D50 and D65 without needing to recalibrate or
even manipulate the colorimeter, while preserving the
advantage of a precisely hardware-calibrated monitor.
3RD GENERATION SENSOR
The new LaCie blue eye colorimeter contains a 3rd
generation sensor that is more precise, more rapid, and
more sensitive to even the slightest color nuances. The
included counterweight facilitates its placement on the LaCie
321 display and a secure membrane prevents any light from
disrupting measurements. After using it, you can protect the
sensor from dust by covering it with its protective shell.
The calibration software included in #108368 is compatible
with leading color measurement devices. Please contact your
reseller to find out which devices are compatible with it.

Expansive color range
The LaCie 321 Monitor utilizes a SA-Superfine TFT panel,
the most advanced LCD technology available today, in
conjunction with high-end backlighting. As a result, it
offers the benefit of a CRT-grade color gamut in a flat
screen monitor. The broad gamut of colors displayed by
the LaCie 321 is a wide 72% of the NTSC (National
Television System Committee) video standards gamut and
100% of the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) gamut.

Exceptional color purity

In addition to its broad color gamut, the LaCie 321
Monitor’s panel presents pure, vibrant colors across
the entire range. In a side-by-side comparison with
other TFTs, this panel exhibits superior color clarity,
which can be appreciated in pure white, pitch black,
and saturated color areas. With a strong contrast ratio
of 500:1 and a brightness of 250 cd/m2, it offers
graphic artists the advantage of a larger dynamic
range to use. The expansive viewing angles (176° in
all directions) prevent grayscale inversion or any loss
of contrast from the widest range of vantage points.

Smooth color gradients

With 10-bit gamma correction, the LaCie 321 Monitor
provides the finest caliber of gamma control, expressly
engineered for serious digital imaging professionals.
Whereas traditional 8-bit gamma allows for only 256
tonal options, 10-bit gamma expands the tonal range to
1024, smoothing color gradation and vastly improving
image precision and accuracy. Consistent gradient
tones are produced by internally converting each 8-bit
RGB color channel to 10 bits automatically, thus
preventing banding. By either preset or custom settings
from 0.5 – 4.0, gamma can be adjusted in increments
of 0.1 for maximum flexibility. This allows for smooth
transitions in color gradients present in areas such as
skin tones or shaded black-and-white images.

The Ideal Workspace

Superb screen resolution
The LaCie 321 Monitor offers a large 21.3” diagonal on
which a double-paged spread or full A3 page can be
displayed in exact 1:1 ratio. This allows professionals to
view a document on their monitor in the same format as
it will be printed, thus avoiding repeated, time-
consuming document rescaling. Its superb 1600x1200
resolution ensures that even the most minute details can
be displayed, so that what is seen on the monitor is what
will appear in print.

Premium viewing conditions

Contrast and color remain the same on the LaCie 321
Monitor from any viewing angle up to 176° in all
directions. Whether sitting or standing, and whether to
the right or left of the display, the colors retain their
integrity. In practice, this means that several
professionals can simultaneously work on the same
monitor and share an identical view of its colors. For the
most demanding color-related tasks, such as photo
retouching and on-screen proofing, the LaCie monitor
hood ensures that external lighting conditions and
surrounding light sources do not interfere with the
document’s intrinsic colors.

Fully adjustable slim monitor

The position of the LaCie 321 Monitor can
be ergonomically adjusted to suit all
work environments. It can be height-
adjusted, tilted and swiveled to match
the professional’s desired settings.
Landscape mode can quickly be
changed a full 90° to portrait mode
viewing. Its narrow bezel and
minimal footprint conform to the
