SYMPTOMS

In a cluster environment, network adapters may disappear from the following locations:

Device Manager. The Local Area Connection Properties dialog box. The Windows registry.

The virtual server that SQL Server is running on may not function appropriately in the corresponding cluster environment. This results in the following:

The memory usage of the computer may be very high. The Network Connection icon disappears from the notification area and from My Network Places. The following error messages may be logged in the Event Viewer: Event ID: 1045 Type: Error Source: ClusSvc Description: Cluster IP Address resource xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx could not create the required TCP/IP interface.

Note The following error message is logged when you try to bring a Clustered Internet Protocol (IP) Address online: Event ID: 1095 Type: Error Source: ClusSvc Description: Microsoft Cluster Server failed to obtain information about the network. Error 2147942405

CAUSE

Some versions of the Intel SNMP Agent (ILansnmp.dll) lock the Windows registry and other resources cannot access the registry. This may cause cluster functioning to fail. Note ILansnmp.dll is not a Microsoft component. When the ILansnmp.dll file causes this problem, the IP addresses of network adapters are unbound. This result in communication failure in cluster IP addresses.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest version of the ILansnmp.dll from the provider.
