Medallion on Server 2008 (64bit)

This document should be used in conjunction with the existing Medallion Installation Guide. Information specific to installing Medallion on Server 2008 (64bit) is contained in this document.

3. Sybase version The 32 bit version of Sybase should be installed per the Medallion Installations Guide. 4. Configuring ODBC Because the 32 bit version of Sybase is installed, it is necessary to use the 32 bit version of the ODBC administrator to configure the ODBC connections for Medallion. To use the 32-bit version ODBC administrator to configure the ODBC connections for Medallion run the following command: c:\windows\syswow64\odbcad32.exe

5. Installing BDE
BDE must be installed manually. The BDE install can be found in the Medallion / BDE folder on the installation CD. It will contain two files. BDE.zip bde.reg Perform the following steps to install BDE manually on 64bit OS: a. Create a folder called Borland Shared in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files. Within the Borland Shared folder create a folder called BDE Unzip BDE.zip to the BDE folder Copy the bde.reg file to the root of c:

b. Create Registry entries Double click on c:\bde.reg. The Registry entries will be written. c. Change permissions in Registry Editor Open a command prompt and type regedit.exe Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Wow6432Node / Borland Right click on Database engine Select Permissions Set User to Full Control. If you dont change this permission BDE administrator will not save new aliases and will hang on exit.

d. After these steps you can run bdeadmin.exe and configure connections as normal.

6. Medallion executables
Medallions executables must be set as exceptions in the Data Execution Prevention tab. To do this: Right click on the My Computer icon Select Properties Select Advanced Select Performance -> Settings Select Data Execution Prevention tab Click on Add to browse to and select each of Medallions executables (.exe)
