ugust 4th, 2011 marked the 12th anniversary of HPCD, Haitian Partners for Christian Development. On August 4, 1999, three influential entrepreneurs, Mr. Ralph Edmond (Cofounder of Laboratoire Farmatrix), Mr. Ernso Jean-Louis (Cofounder of Red Star Market) & Mrs. Sylvie Theard (Cofounder of ITALA pasta), were inspired to eradicate poverty through sustainable job creation. These three dedicated individuals took upon themselves to transform their society by creating an organiza-
tion which focused on creating sustainable jobs in Haiti. Now 12 years later, over 3,350 jobs established, HPCD stands dedicated to their mission: to encourage strong entrepreneurship in Haiti and around the world, that is based on foundational values, ethics, and social sharing as stated in Biblical scripture. HPCD, an organization where our vision to see a country full of employment where social harmony lasts & economic development is based on entrepreneurship and sharing guides
our thinking and decisions. Yes, there have been challenges in the last 12 years but we have never given up and we are stronger because of it. n the evening of August 28 1994 Father Jean-Marie Vincent, 49 yrs old, was murdered by the henchmen of the military dictatorship of former general Cedras. National Park Jean Marie Vincent , once a recreational park, now after the earthquake of January 12, 2010 hosts one of the largest camps of over 20,000 displaced people in the Haitian capital.
HPCD has realized that the youth living in these camps are filled with potential & aptitude but regardless are unproductive. This has brought about a partnership with the United Nations to re-launch our youth placement initative to train these youth with vocational trades & place them in apprenticeships. HPCD believe that these youth are Haitis tomorrow and investing in their future is investing in the future of Haiti.
