CHOREOGRAPHY AUDITION INFO Groups will learn and rehearse a 60 second dance section in approximately 30-45 minutes minutes. Smaller groups of six to eight people will then form two lines to perform the choreography two times each. This will allow each row a turn in the front line. CALLBACKS Callback auditions will be Monday 12/5 and Tuesday 12/6. A callback is a list of students that the directors would like to hear read or sing again for specific parts. A callback list will be emailed to all students and posted Thursday evening after auditions. Only those performers listed on the call back need to attend this part of the audition. Remember, just because you are not called back does NOT mean you havent been cast in the show. The callback is simply an opportunity for directors to have additional readings for specific roles with a select number of actors. ADDITIONAL AUDITION INFORMATION Auditions will be closed (meaning only children auditioning will be allowed in the audition room.) Parents can wait in the lobby. As with all auditions, there will be some children that are not cast in the production. It is important to understand this before auditioning and for parents to help prepare their children for this possibility. We try to include as many actors as possible but logistically there is only room for a certain number of performers on the stage. It is our goal to cast the best actor for each role while considering the many factors that influence casting: singing (quality and range), acting (characterization, diction, timing, projection, etc.), dancing (character movement and skill), height, stage presence, physical appearance in relationship to others being cast, connection to the audience, ability and willingness to take direction, respect for directors and other performers, and overall attitude. AUDITION TIPS Dress nicelya director want to know that you take being in this show seriously. Be prepared by reading all the audition information and having the necessary paperwork ready to hand in.

Be familiar with the script or story of the production. Beauty and the Beast Jr. is very similar to the animated movie so it would be recommended to have those characters in mind at the audition. Also, you can see many stage productions of Beauty and the Beast on Youtube.com. Know the songs of the showyoutube.com is an amazing reference for songs that arent in the movie. (i.e. Home, Human Again) You can see hundreds of productions of Beauty and the Beast. Be familiar with songs that you arent required to prepare at the audition. You never know when the director might have you sing an additional song. Be confident and make STRONG acting choices. Dont just sing the song or say the words of the monologue. Be the character by using character voices, accents, gestures, facial expression, etc. Use auditioning etiquette by being polite and respectful to the directors and other actors, turning cell phones off in the auditioning room, and being encouraging to all. In addition to talent, directors are looking for performers that are easy to work with and have a good rapport with their fellow actors PRODUCTION FEE Each cast member (regardless of part) is required to pay a production fee of $100. This fee is used directly to offset the cost of costumes and technical elements of the production. The production fee also includes a show t-shirt for each cast member and 2 free tickets to the show. The production fee will be due in on payment no later than December 19, 2011. Payments may be in the form of cash or check payable to OHS DRAMA. Personal Commitment
I have volunteered to take part in the Drama Club of Octorara High School. I understand that this is a serious personal commitment. I agree to show up on time for all rehearsals, performances and related activities, giving my best to make this production a success. I have reviewed the rehearsal schedule and understand that rehearsals and performances are mandatory. All casted participants will be responsible for paying $100.00, payable to OHS Drama. This fee will be used to purchase costumes, set materials and performance rights. Fees are not refundable. Students will also be required to have their own supplies (i.e. mascara, brushes for makeup). I have listed below the dates that are in conflict with scheduled rehearsals. I also understand that fundraising is an important aspect of theater and will do my best to participate in the program and patron book ad campaign. As a parent I understand the commitment that my child has agreed to and will do my best to support them in this endeavor.
