ABOUT ILAT
The International Legal Advisory Team (ILAT) is a newly formed network of international lawyers and scholars from Belgium, Chile, India, the Philippines, South Africa, United Kingdom and the United States. It aims to advise and assist the NDFP Negotiating Panel by providing probono advise and assistance in atters of law arising from and/or related to the peace negotiations including international human rights law, international humanitarian law, international treaty law, international standards and principles of constitutional law. What is the value, significance and binding effect of the bilateral agreements between the Parties? How can reference to international law help in providing safety and immunity guarantees to the Parties? How can the joint and separate implementation of a human rights and international humanitarian law agreement? be guaranteed? How can the Parties be committed to negotiate on socio-economic reforms? How can reference to international law be an aid to political and constitutional reforms? How can international law help end hostilities? How can international law be used in building peace ? What is the role of international law and international legal experts in the substantive items in the agenda of the peace negotiations?
