Excellence
January 14, 2011 CL Follosco Group, I nc . ( C LF G ) celebrated the 45th founding anniversary of its first company, Alpha Machinery & Engineering Corp. CLFG knew that the best way to celebrate this milestone was to show appreciation to the important people behind the companys success the employees and business partners. It started the significant day by offering a Thanksgiving Mass at the National Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Employees from the Makati office as well as members of the Follosco family attended the mass. The homily focused on how CLFG attained its success by living its core values:

quest for CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT; and Institutionalizing INTEGRITY as the bedrock of our employees ethics and our corporate culture.

The grand event of the whole-day celebration was the dinner dedicated to CLFGs business partners. Various CLFG companies clients, dealers, suppliers, bankers and other people who have been instrumental in the groups success graced the event that was held at Mandarin Oriental Manila. The program was hosted by PGF. CGF formally welcomed all the guests with a speech about CLFGs humble beginnings. He concluded his welcome remarks by thanking everybody who has played a critical role in the growth of the group. CLFGs corporate video was then presented before the guests. The highlight of the affair was the inspirational speech by CLF. He wittily shared the chances, changes and challenges he encountered along the road to CLFGs success. The program finished off with the closing remarks of MFB. She acknowledged the CLFG officers who have been remarkably doing their best to help the group attain its goals. CLFG was truly grateful not only for the presence of its business partners during the event but also for their continued support through the years. In its dream towards reaching a lifelong existence, CLFG will launch new premium and relevant programs to serve more individuals and groups and uphold its commitment to excellence.

CLFG 2010 Christmas Party...Its Showtime!

Christmas is the most awaited time of the year. Everyone seems to be excited as this day comes near. Who would not be? Gift-giving, food sharing, long vacation, caroling, name it all of these give us happy thoughts. But of course, we would not forget the fun CLFG Christmas Party that we had for 2010. Preparation Two to three weeks before the Christmas party, CLFG employees were getting busy, not only with their work but also with the dance classes after office hours. The three major clusters: Trading, Manufacturing, and Finance & Services, were given the chance to showcase their talents. Each cluster gave its best effort from developing the concept down to costumes and props who would know if someone will be discovered, no one knows if one of the judges is a talent manager, it was SHOWTIME after all! Event proper December 23, 2010 - CLFG celebrated its Christmas Party at Silvers Place Hotel in Makati. The event started like a real Showtime Program in the Kapamilya Network. Everyones level of energy was at its high. The new employees were the first set of celebrities to hit the dance floor. This was followed by the wellprepared performances of the three groups. First was the Manufacturing Cluster who has shown popular dances from 70s up to present (good concept!). Next was the Trading Clusterwho danced with their cartoon character costumes (good costume!). Last, but definitely not the least, was the Finance clusterwho danced to the tune of Single Ladies (good looks!). Haha! The Finance cluster won the 1st place while the Manufacturing & Trading Clusters were tied at 2nd place. Aftermath Eating sessions didnt end last December, as most of the clusters have shared their winnings thru small gatherings. No wonder some CLFG employees are gaining some weight! The party was a great success! Congratulations to CEFFI who organized the event and to all the winners of CLFG Showtime Party! Diana Castillo

Happy 80th Birthday, CLF!

Inquirer headline last February 7: Just another day for Aquino on his birthday quite the same words to describe CLFs birthday! jobs (distributing notes) which he calls exercise, sipping coffee, and attending lots of meetings. Well, same things happened that day. He spent his morning at the office analyzing, thinking, clustering, engineering and reengineering, innovating and so on. Came noon, he left the office to attend two meetings scheduled at 12nn and 2pm onwards. Working on his birthday may not be extraordinary but working at 80 isnt for everyone. Driving at 80 isnt for everyone. Having tons of major major achievements isnt for everyone. Well, being slightly AL is common. Maybe thats why CLF is not just anyone. And thats why CLFG employees made sure that his birthday will be recognized no matter how busy his schedule was. So at the afternoon break of February 4, CLFG employees gathered at the training room to give CLF a BIRTHDAY SURPRISE! Although it was already a

Valentines Day Celebration a la CLFG

The month of February started cold as the Siberian winds swept across the country for its annual visit. While we usually hear the very much clichd "Malamig ang Pasko" during December, we also have Malamig ang Pebrero" which can be taken figuratively or literally. Single individuals take it figuratively though as the feeling of coldness is usually used as a metaphor for the lack of special someone to keep us warm. Considering the number of singles in CLFG, our beloved company didnt want us to feel the coldness of February through CEFFIs Pre-Valentines Party last February 11, 2011. That Friday night was not cold at all. We actually had two huge industrial fans to keep us from sweating too much! The event was hosted by CEFFI Coordinator Rodel Nace and CLFG Marketing and Communications Assistant Kara Orejola. It started with an invocation at 6:45 PM followed by welcome remarks turned the garage into a sizzling dance floor! Between the performances were games, which CLFG employees participated in. The winners for the games were: Cherie and Roland Ipasok Mo Ang Straw Ko, Princess and Dane Paper Dance and Mariane and CJ the Igiling Mo Ang Numero Ko. Tina Bangngay The night started rolling as the hosts called the employees to give intermission numbers, asking each one of them if they are single or double. Divine Tapit, Rea Britanico and Diane Castillo serenaded us with love songs while Princess Abanilla and Dane Balanaon Valentines Day is traditionally commemorated by lovers to celebrate their love and affection to each other but we at CLFG are not traditional. We innovate. Thats what we do. We redefine things. We define Valentines Day as a celebration of human bonding and camaraderie. by Allied Sales Corp. OIC, LA Funelas. The event was officially closed by Maricel Tayao, PFS Mk tg . O f f ic e r , after the dinner.

CEFFI Seminars: Cost Budgeting & Accounting for Non-Accountants

CEFFI organized two seminars that were beneficial and useful for the employees. The seminars were both lively and interesting, thanks to our resident speakers, Ms. Dianne Castillo and Ms. Jelyn A. Aguilar. The first seminar entitled Cost Budgeting was held on September 18, 2010, Saturday, at the CLFG Training Room. Selected representatives from each CLFG unit served as the participants. Basic concepts about cost budgeting as well as the new approach called Zero Budgeting were discussed. Speakers captured the audience attention as evidenced by the lively discussion and group activity. The other seminar entitled Accounting Seminar for NonAccountants was held on December 4, 2010, Saturday, also at the CLFG Training Room. The seminar was organized for the benefit of the Marketing and Sales people, as well as those employees involved in analyzing the financial standing of a company. The basics about Financial Statements, its components, importance and analysis were thoroughly explained. Sample financial statement and analysis were also given by the speakers. The seminar ended with an activity wherein participants were grouped per cluster and were asked to do an analysis on a companys sample financial statement. With the successful outcome of the seminars, CEFFI has once again proven its commitment to help promote competitiveness and learning among CLFG employees. Kudos to Team CEFFI! Aside from implementing programs s uc h a s c o m p a ny ye a r -r o und recreational activities, environmental c a m p a ig ns a nd s e m inar s a nd trainings, CEFFI also actively helps the community in a philanthropic way. Last year, we donated a sum of money to MAP (Management Association of the Philippines) for their relief operation and rehabilitation program to assist victims of Typhoon Juan. Since we value the role of churches in improving the morality of Filipinos, we also shared our blessings to Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Parish located at Malabang, Lanao Del Sur and to the Priests of the Sacred Heart located at Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental. Recently, we also gave contributions to the National Shrine of the Sacred Heart here in Makati City. We also extended our help to Childrens Hour Foundation, Inc. in continuous support of their noble objective to help improve the lives of our young generations. With these activities, CEFFI is truly an active organization that promotes and exercises Corporate Social Responsibility at its best to help build our nation. We at CEFFI believe that CSR has no boundaries! Rodel Nace

Corporate Social responsibility is not just about doing the right thing, it is also about making a company understand responsibilities associated with the business including the impacts on social partners such as local communities, the environment and ensuring good labor standards and good relationships between the management and employees, and the customers as well. CEFFI Success Story: Devs Internet Cafe

It is my privilege to be a part of CL Follosco Group Inc. It aims for the good of its employees. It offers several programs to the employees to help them progress despite the adversity of our fast changing time. Several trainings and seminars were held to hone and nourish its employees learning growth. The employees are nurtured to become more productive and well-rounded individuals. Aside from the educational programs for the employees, one of the programs that I want to highlight is the support CLFG is giving to its employees who aspire to become entrepreneurs. As an example, I myself have already availed of a business loan. I know that at first, putting up a small business needs a detailed plan of actions. I was so grateful when I opened up my idea and Ma'am MFB willingly gave some advice and guided me to thoroughly evaluate everything to avoid failure upon operation. She was so accommodating and open about her thoughts and concerns about the matter. Knowing that I have a great mentor gave me confidence that I'll be able to do it right. At present, I have my internet cafe that has been successfully operating for almost six (6) months and counting. We have so many ideas and plans in increasing our financial resources. As an employee, it may seem impossible to accommodate the idea of putting up a business because the required capital is quite large. We got used to budgeting our salary till the next pay day, but if we really want something, what we need is a will to pursue it. We are so blessed to have a company that supports employees needs and helps them reach their dreams. Develuna Balungag

How to Stay Fit While Working

Complaining about stiff neck and back pains? What about those belly fats and varicose veins? These are just some of the things that could result from having low levels of activity and unhealthy food choices you make while sitting in your desk and working for eight hours or more a day. Its bad for our health and results to a lot of undesired effects (to which we can all relate to, right?) So here are some tips on how you can stay healthy and fit even during the long hours of work: Walk around If the idea of repeatedly standing and pacing around makes you worry that your co-workers will think you have suddenly contracted a stomach bug, there are other purposeful methods for getting out of that chair. If you need to discuss something in person with a coworker, dont call her on the phone, take a walk over to her and ask. If someone stops by and wants to know where they keep something, dont give him a long explanation about the things location, get up and show him. Youll provide more satisfactory service and develop better relationships, and kick those enzymes back into gear. Eat well The American Medical Association, among many others, recognize that snacking on nutritious foods in small portions throughout the day can be more beneficial than eating a few big meals, especially for people who dont exercise much. It keeps your metabolism running as it is constantly burning up food. It will also prevent overeating at meal times and help you avoid that bloated stomach. As for the kinds of foods one should be eating, Im sure you already know all the ones to avoid. Try to eat healthier foods such as vegetables and natural fruits, lean meat and seafood. Drink lots of water Getting up for water is of twofold benefit, of course, because it combines the act of walking to the cooler, and all the countless wonderful benefits of drinking water. Most people drink lots of coffee or any other caffeinated drink which makes them dehydrated. Drink water instead and you dont have to worry about consuming too much since the majority of us dont drink nearly enough anyway. Do simple exercises Aside from walking around, it never hurts to do some stretching and a few exercises to avoid muscle stiffness and body pains. As an added benefit, it can help remove your drowsiness. If you feel uncomfortable doing this in your desk or if you feel that you are disturbing your coworkers, you can go to the restroom and do your thing. Hopefully next time, you wouldnt need to get that bottle of Omega anymore!

ENERGYLED Lights LED light bulbs could be a cost-effective option for lighting a home or office space because of their very long lifetimes. Efficiency: LEDs emit more light per watt than incandescent lights (i.e. A 13 watt LED lamp emits 450 to 650 lumens which is equivalent to a standard 40 watt incandescent bulb.) Cool light: LEDs radiate very little heat in the form of Infrared that can cause damage to sensitive objects or fabrics. Lifetime: LEDs can have a relatively long life of 35,000 to 50,000 hours vs. the 10,000 to 15,000 and 1,0002,000 hours of the fluorescent bulb and incandescent light bulbs, respectively. Low toxicity: LEDs do not contain mercury, unlike fluorescent lights. However, LEDs may contain other hazardous metals such as lead and arsenic. BIOTECHNOLOGYBt Eggplant Feature: Resistant to the highly-infesting fruit and shoot borer. Benefits: For farmers: It helps cut the use of expensive pesticides, cut production cost, reduce exposure to harmful chemicals. For consumers: It has lower price from higher eggplant production and protects their health. It also enhances environmental protection. With BT eggplant , it is expected that the countrys eggplant yield which is currently at (ave.) 9.95 metric tons per hectare will raise by two to five times. Rosanne Ancog
