Dr. Ammar that is what people will address me someday.

Inspired by one of the Islamic history famous figures, my parents named me Ammar Bin Mohamad Ziyadi who was born on 12th August 1991 at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kelantan, when my father was a medical officer. Now, he is Associate Prof Dr Mohamad Ziyadi Bin Ghazali, a cardiologist. My beloved mother, Nor Haliza Binti Ghazali is a full-time hardworking housewife who takes good care of our family of six . MARA Junior Science College Pengkalan Chepa was my secondary school before I further my studies in Faculty of Medicine at Mansoura University in Egypt. Presently, I am a second year student there. At MJSC Pengkalan Chepa, I was elected School Representative Council heading the Cultural and Heritage bureau. As the SRC member, I was entrusted to manage events and care for the welfare of students. During my tenure, I dealt with school administration, teachers and friends as well as managed myself in carrying out my duties. Apart from that, I was also the President of MJSC PCs Orchestra Club. My involvement in this club really challenged my ability to manage my time as for every musical performance hours of practice were put in besides the regular weekly practices. To ensure that I had chosen the correct career path, I joined Red Crescent Society and was also elected President of this uniform body. Here, I learnt first-aid and other beginner medical skills. RCS also reassured me of my professional career choice as I was exposed to the field here. To further learn about medical field, I participated in the Young Doctors Programmer which was held at Hospital University Sains Kubang Kerian. I am exposed to the a doctors life since I was little by my family members; my father who is an associate professor at HUSM Kubang Kerian and my uncle, Dr who is a specialist in . at Sultanah Zainab General Hospital in Kota Bharu. During my school breaks, my father often brought me to the hospital he worked at to expose me to the hospitals environment. I also believe that studying medicine is a chance for me to strengthen my bond with Allah as I will be learning about His best creation, human beings, just like other Islamic scholars before me. Studying in Faculty of Medicine at Mansoura University is a stepping stone to bring me closer to Allah. My choice of university is also accurate as the director of Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Dr Zaidun Kamari is also a graduate of this prestigious institute. Apart from lectures and practical classes, I also participated in the clinical training organised by the universitys hospital during the previous winter break. It was an unforgettable experience as I was given the chance to enter the operation theatre of the Urology Department and witnessed operations performed by doctors from other countries. The hospitals environment is also different compared to ours. I completed my first year of undergraduate studies with good results and succeeded to the second year. By getting a loan from MARA, I hope that I can put myself through the next 5 years of study for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBcH) without any financial handicap. I will also take this chance to study Islamic knowledge and ethics of a Muslim doctor with hope that I could become a good Muslim doctor. My exposure to Islamic medical practices will give me the opportunities to find solutions to nonhalal medications which are not suitable and prescribed to Muslim patients nowadays. Clexane, for example, which is used to prevent blood clotting contains pig

ingredients but it could actually be replaced with heparin which has similar effect yet halal and less expensive. After finishing my undergraduate studies, I will undergo housemanship at any local government hospitals for at least three years. Then, I will study for my Master as a postgraduate student to be a specialist for another three to four years and later Ph.D preferably in United Kingdom. I wish to be a specialist in neonatology because I would like to learn more about the development of human being. After that, I would give my service to Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, which is one of the best research hospitals in our country. To fulfill MARAs objective to produce more Malay professionals for our beloved country, I would definitely study very hard to attain this for not only I will be contributing to the nation but also myself, my beloved family and the most important to the Malays.
