Bakau) - PETRONAS Carigali Sarawak Operations (PCSB-SKO)

Lead and guide junior process engineers to develop steady state and dynamic model for
Tukau, West Lotong and Bakau processing facilities. Monitor project progress, project cost
and quality of work. Coach junior process engineers on simulation results interpretation.
Conduct Process HAZOP analysis using dynamic simulations.

Integrated Steady State & Pipeline Simulation For SBO Offshore Facilities -
PETRONAS Carigali Sabah Operations (PCSB-SBO)

Lead and guide junior process engineers to develop steady state simulation for surface
facilities and pipeline simulation for single phase flow. Integrate pipeline model and process
model and conduct case study. Monitor project schedule, project cost and quality of work.
Identify potential improvement to increase daily productions. Identify any bottle neck area
and propose solutions.

Dulang D – Low Pressure optimization Project. PETRONAS Carigali Peninsular

Malaysia Operations (PCSB-PMO)

Lead and responsible for the conversion of test separator into production separator and
installation of new LP header and new main oil line pump. Verify design capacity on the new
method adopted. Check and verify venting system and modify necessary process
requirement to conform to the statutory regulations. Conduct Process HAZOP Analysis.

Training Simulator for ANGSI production facilities (Oil & Gas Platform)

Developed Distributed Control System (DCS) communication driver between Fisher-

Rosemount (Delta V- Intellution iFIX) and HYSYS.Plant+. Designed and developed unit
operations faceplate, detail page, group trending and history and alarm summary. Developed
safeguarding logic in simulation software environment and interfaced it in Man Machine
Interface (MMI) environment. Developed process graphics and schematics. Configured and
set-up DCS database. Performed Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test
(SAT) for MMI and DCS communication. Tested platform shutdown and startup procedure
using the process trainer. Tested process malfunctions and performed process up-set
recovery.
Dynamic Simulations for PM9 Assest Offshore Facilities (Bekok, & Pulai) - PETRONAS
Carigali Peninsular Malaysia Operations (PCSB-PMO)

Developed Steady State and dynamic simulation for Bekok and Pulai Platform. Incorporated

DULANG-D (oil & gas platform) optimization project & Dynamic Simulation for DUYONG
and TIONG offshore facilities for PETRONAS Carigali Peninsular Malaysia Operations
(PCSB-PMO)

Steady state and dynamic simulation consultant to PTS2 process engineers, Kertih Regional
Office. Conducted sub-surface and topside DULANG-D optimization studies to increase barrel
intake from currently no flowing wells with minimal cost of operation. Optimized platform
current operating parameters to re-initiate no flowing wells to flow and maximize production.
Successfully performed field trial based on simulation findings and achieved oil production
above than the targeted production. Conducted study on liquid carry over to onshore gas
terminal, glycol loss in glycol regeneration system and mist carryover to flare tip. Conducted
drag reduction study to increase delta P in pipeline and performed the field trial. Developed
DUYONG and TIONG dynamic process facilities (platform wide) simulation model based on
design data and current operating conditions.

Downstream Activities:
Development of PETRONAS Steady State Simulation Software at VMG Calgary,
Alberta, Canada

Initiated the idea of PETRONAS Steady State Development Project with cost saving to
PETRONAS at least RM 5 Million annually and value creation to PRSS of more than RM 2
Million in annually. Developed PETRONAS Steady State Simulator based on open source
code concept. Designed, developed, code and test unit operations algorithm, proprietary
property package for Benfield, communication driver, graphical user interface (GUI) and
third party software interface. Wrap-up and compile source code for commercial
deployment. Run series of testing and Quality check on unit operations algorithm and GUI.
Test the developed software interfacing with Delta V through Microsoft Excel. Performed
pilot run on Pilot Plat Distillation Unit connecting to PetronasSim and test life data
communication. Conducted series of Beta Test session. Organize training and workshop and
taught PETRONAS process engineers on the newly developed software. Promote and
market the software.

Benfield Simulation Project for Gas Processing Plant A

Developed Benfield model using Hysys 3.1 and OLI property package. Fine-tuned the model
to match actual operating data and run case studies to identify the root cause of the loss of
Benfield solution in the closed loop system.

Palm Diesel Training Simulator Project for Malaysian Palm Oil Board

Integrate Feed Treatment dynamic simulation model with YOKOGAWA CENTUM 3000
Distributed Control System. Fine-tune controller in simulation model to external execution
based on YOKOGAWA emulated controller algorithm. Develop process mal-function
exercises and perform process up-set recovery. Validate unit shutdown and startup
procedures and recommend necessary changes. Validate and verify unit control strategy
and philosophy. Perform process HAZOP analysis and crosscheck safeguarding logic and
emergency shutdown matrix. Train plant shift supervisors and process engineers on process
malfunctions, startup and shutdown execution, and emergency shutdown procedure using
the simulator.

Engineering Simulator Development for Propane Dehydrogenation Plant (PDH) at

AEAT (Hyprotech) Houston, Texas, USA.

Developed dynamics simulation model for Feed Treatment section. Modelled Feed Guard
Beds, Feed Driers and Regeneration System, Depropaniser column and Debutaniser column
using Hyprotech’s HYSYS.Plant+ dynamic simulation package. Verified start-up and shut-
down procedures using the simulator. Verified control algorithm and control strategy using the
engineering dynamic model. Developed Feed Treatment process graphics using DataView.
Linked Feed Treatment simulation model to process graphics using simcoordinator and
simserver. Successfully performed FAT and SAT.

Plant wide steady state modeling for PETRONAS Methanol Labuan

PETRONAS Methanol Labuan.

Tuned and optimized steady state simulation model of steam reforming unit, methanol
synthesis unit and methanol purification unit to match actual operating parameters. Performed
steady state study on methanol distillation column. Integrated utilities (steam) to process unit
and conducted heat exchanger efficiency study.
