Nigeria culture both business and social is heavily influenced by its politics.

There are three major cultures in Nigeria which are Igbo Culture, Yoruba Culture and Hausa Culture. Igbos are located in the South-East part of Nigeria. Most of the families survive through subsistence of agricultural. Besides farming, the Ibos are known for their astuteness in trading business. When you talk about business in Nigeria, then it is referred to mostly the Ibo tribe as they are very versatile in trade. There are five cultural dimension of Hofstede which included power distance, individualism versus collectivism, masculinity versus femininity, uncertainty avoidance index and long-term orientation versus short-term orientation. Power distance is the extent to which the less powerful members of organization and institutions accept and expect that power is distributed unequally. In Nigeria, power distance is higher than in United State. Its mean United State is low-power-distance country and Nigeria is highpower-distance country. So Auto.Icar in United Stated generally is decentralized and has flatter organization structures. We also have a smaller proportion of supervisory personnel, and the lower strata of the workforce often consist of highly qualified people. By contrast, Auto.Icar in Nigeria tends to be centralized and have tall organization structures. In addition, we have a large proportion of supervisory personnel, and the people at the lower levels of the structure often have low job qualifications. This latter structure encourages and promotes inequality between people at different levels. (Advameg, 2011) Furthermore, individualism versus collectivism, collectivism can be describes as the degree which the individuals are integrated into groups. On the other hand,

individualist side we find societies in which the ties between individuals are loose. Everyone is expected to look after themselves and their immediate family. While, collectivist is those people from birth onwards are integrated into strong, cohesive ingroups, often extended families which continue protecting them in exchange for unquestioning loyalty. Nigeria culture is more towards collectivism. They stay among their groups. Meanwhile, in United State, employee usually practices individualism rather than collectivism. So Auto.Icar in Unites State counts their achievement by individually. And also motivate employees by offering individual reward. Each employee will perform

effectively by competitiveness. However, Auto.Icar in Nigeria encourages to do group work or team work rather than individual work. It will give Synergy effect which is effect greater than the sum of their individual effect by interaction of two or more people. (Geert Hofstede - itim , 2009) Masculinity versus femininity can be defined as distribution roles between genders which is another fundamental issue. Masculinity is a culture in which the dominant values in society are success, money, and things. Femininity is the term used that a situation in which the dominant values in society are caring for others and the quality of life. Some countries still have a gap between mens value and womens values. Higher masculinity in United State compare to Nigeria, this is because the gap between mens value and womens value in Nigeria is still very huge. Therefore, our managers in United State tend to keep their employees under some degree of control. In contrast, our company in Nigeria tends to place great important on cooperation, a friendly atmosphere, and employment security. (Geert Hofstede - itim , 2009) Uncertainty Avoidance index deals with a society's tolerance for uncertainty and ambiguity; it ultimately refers to man's search for Truth. It indicates to what extent a culture programs its members to feel either uncomfortable or comfortable in unstructured situations. Unstructured situations are novel, unknown, surprising, and different from usual. Uncertainty avoiding cultures try to minimize the possibility of such situations by strict laws and rules, safety and security measures, and on the philosophical and religious level by a belief in absolute Truth. The opposite type, uncertainty accepting cultures, they try to have as few rules as possible, and on the philosophical and religious level they are relativist and allow many currents to flow side by side. Higher uncertainty avoidance in Nigeria culture compare to United State. Auto.Icar in Nigeria have a great deal of structuring of organizational activities, more written rules, less risk taking by managers and less ambitious employees. In other hand, our company in United State tends to embrace of the change, less written rules and so on. (ClearlyCultural.com, 2009) Long-term orientation versus short term orientation can be said to deal with Virtue regardless of Truth. Values of long-term orientation are thrift and perseverance on

the other hand, values of short-term orientation are respect for tradition, fulfilling social obligations and protecting someones face. (ClearlyCultural.com, 2009)
