Reflection 1

Today is a wonderful day because we already finished the several weeks of vacation of our first semestral break. Im glad that me and my other classmates remain in the same section. I was amazed that our instructor will be Ms. Penid, she is our instructor in Filipino. I am so glad that the better she teaching Filipino subject the same way she teaching Values subject. I proved that she is really dedicated in her job because she never let the time passing by without touching some important topics that we are going to discuss for the next meeting. Before she live she gave some topics to research and study at home like what is Values?

Reflection 2
Today we discussed about the real meaning of a word values. Honestly for me, the first thing that comes to my mind regarding this topic is something related to our good characteristics and behavior. I was agreeing for what my instructor said that value is like those we can do to our neighbors or other people without waiting for something in return. Im also wondering about the term unconditional love. Maybe if all people know how to have unconditional love there is nothing more happier everytime we heard this kind of word of magic like love. Something like what Aristotle said, a value is something desirable, worth having, worth keeping, worth possessing, and worth doing. We are trying to have those values for our desire and we never stop trying our best just to have those, give care to them by simple keeping it, to shows that value is important to us. But if there are believers in positive meaning of values, there is also a believer, which states, Not all values is good? Like our desire, sometimes it may result of hurting not only ourselves, but also other people who have connection on us. Same of those who desire for power and fame, just to make sure that they are always on top, they never consider other peoples condition and feelings, they always prioritize themselves and their needs that sometimes may result of being selfish.

I finally realized that we need values to live, same of air we breath, the food we eat and water to relief our thirst. In a whole, there are the basic needs for our survival. Values has a value and become valuable if we know how to give importance!

Reflection 3
Did values can be taught? A question which may somehow easily to answer, but on the back of our minds, there is another questions that continuous questioning us, how can we teach and show values in our own way? Values is a mirror of our own personality and morality which can be easily influence others. They said that values could be taught, by means of being example, by reward and punishment. It is said that it will be taught by being example .We already know that for what we are now is a product of our own family, included those other morals that may influence us by our surroundings. Im also agreeing that family is the basic foundation of morality. Child is born innocently. Aside of the development in physical, they also develop their mental skills that may reason to them to have the ability to adapt themselves and become more aware in his/her environment. Learning different values from their surroundings will be the outcome but still he / she has the authority to value those values by putting and using it in his / her daily life whether it is good or not. They said it can be taught by a reward, Although, reward can helps people to excel, and become more dedicated in his job, still not all the time it gives a good result, because a person never value the value of initiative. This is somehow related to a saying Doing good things without expecting something in return Human never be a human because the value of unconditional love has gone Their purpose of working hard is for the possible reward that they are expecting too much. Without of it, they dont have the initiative to do something good at all times. Values can be taught by punishment. It is very helpful in our society especially our own country. Philippines is a free country but we followed by different laws, policies and regulations just to gained a peace. There is a progress and success occurs for having well organized and disciplined people of a one country. But for me, I am choosing the first category that Values can be taught by means of being example. Everything starts from ourselves, which is not requiring any reward or developed fear just to do something good for others. Values is not only a subject that

something to learn and memorize, it is the way we appreciating anything around us which we are responsible to manage it effectively and wisely.

Reflection 4
There is a question regarding about values, if values can be subjective or objective? They said that being carrier of values is a crucial situation. Why?. Maybe because there is a sensitive part of values which in a simple it will be easily distracted. Still our family is very known that reflects our personality. Unfortunately, theres a situation comes, we did something unnecessary to others. Although we are not perfect person, same what other people say There is no perfect in this world, but sometimes they cannot avoid to trace our family history and background which is the way they can get answers to their different questions about us, Why we are like this or why we are like that? Sometimes we are also avoiding to do something wrong or decisions in life which someday our family will be blame us, and saying that we are the one who brings bad image to the family. Sometimes it helps us to be very confused in life. Although we know that in every little thing we did can affect others easily. If you did something good or even its bad, admit it or not there is advantages and disadvantages results. Same of being objectivism, which states that, all things have a value. We just need to wait first until we discover and realize the use of it. Example is our own life. We already know the value of life that God gave us. And sometimes we are getting subjectivism if we using our lives for a purpose, which supports to a saying that value is conferred by the person who hold them. This is also showed that there is a dynamic relationship between objectivism and subjectivism, which fall under relationism.

Reflection 5
Today we are having a great discussion about our topic. It is about the question If values are permanent or changeable? Others agree that it is permanent because they believed that they have already their natural characteristics in terms of morality, which they believed, that are not easily to change. Instead of change it is getting more by means because of the influence of their environment.

Others believe that it can be change. They believe for a saying that, Theres nothing permanent in this world except change. Everything is change physically, mentally and emotionally. Human can decide to manage himself in his own way. For me I was concluding that maybe it is true that value not change, only human can be. No matter what happen we all know the value of anything surrounds us but it is depend on us that value will be permanent or changeable.

Reflection 6
What are Filipino values? We are very much aware in our Filipino values. We are rich in cultures and traditions that we may differ from other countries There are many Filipino values that Filipinos should be very proud of!

First being hospitality is one of the values that tourists from around the world notice first everytime they visit the Philippines. Filipinos took great care of their guests, making sure that they're comfortable and happy in their stay. Filipinos are also family oriented. They value greatly their families, which is always on top of their priorities. Filipinos are also happy people, always smiling and never forget to have a good laugh amidst the problems and hardships that come their ways.

Filipinos are very respectful. They show respect to their elders by saying 'po' and 'opo' and kissing their hands. Filipinos are also religious. They devote time to reconnect with God. They have strong faith, believing that problems and adversities in life will surpass with the help and providence of God.

Reflection 7
Today we discussed about the different types of values. It mentioned first the appetitive values. Appetite is our desire to eat and is often related to specific foods.

I learned that we value food if we have the interest to eat when we are hungry but food will be have no value if our stomach is full because we dont

even time or interests to taste it. And it will be abuse if we have a kind of seek like obesity which have problem in digestive system. Their brain cannot recognize the stomach it may cause to endless eating.

Next is a sexual value, I learned that there is come a time that we are desiring on it. but it may result in good and bad situation.

Good if we the two marriage couple desire this because they have the right and responsibilities to each other. But it will become bad if they desire for it for satisfaction only. Other people committed different things to satisfy there over needs in sex. They can never value sex if they will be use it from their satisfaction only.

Next is aesthetic value, this is more related to a word Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We can appreciate without looking in the bad side of it.

Same of Love is Blind, we never see the bad image of our love ones. All we see is all beauty of him/ her physically and emotionally.

Next is the intellectual values , it is really important in our daily lives. We say our intellectual value is the only thing we have that can consider our own that no one can get form us.

They said that theres main reason why human created with mind on top before the heart. Human is a intelligent creation of god. We have the power to decide what is the best for ourselves that gives us happiness.

Next is the moral value, it is for good and evil, which govern an individuals behavior and choices. This kind of values helps us to develop value of respect, responsibility and trust those people who believe on us.

We can say we are human if we know how to act as a human but sometimes we are comparing to animals if we have lack of conscience and wisdom. Wisdom can remind us that we are human with heart that can helps our moral developments
