Hymn of Praise & Confession of Sins

7:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH ME

Please be pa ent with me, God is not through with me yet. Please be pa ent with me, God is not through with me yet. When God gets through with me, when God gets through with me, I shall come forth, I shall come forth like pure gold. Verse If you should see me and I'm not walking right, And if you should hear me and I'm not talking Right; please remember what God has done or Me, when He gets through with me, I'll be what He wants me to be.

lmighty and Most Merciful Father, we come before You, acknowledging our sins, our shortcomings, and our breaking of our Covenant with You. Not only have we done things we ought not have done, said things we ought not to have said, le undone so many things we ought to have done and been silent when we should have witnessed for You. Not only are we guilty of that, O Lord; but we have also closed our eyes and pretended not to see the injus ces, the racism, and the evil which pervade our everyday lives. We have shut our ears and pretended not to hear the cries for libera on which come from the lips, lives and hearts of the oppressed even our own Black brothers and sisters! Forgive us, O Lord, renew our courage and faith, and keep us ever mindful of Thy great sacrice. Hear us, we beseech Thee, as we come to You in love and worship giving Your name the praise forevermore. ****** To All Our Visitors ... To all who mourn and need comfor ng ... To all who are friendless and want friendship ... To all who are oppressed and need libera on; and to whosoever will come, Trinity opens its doors. Thank you for coming and may God bless you.

Unison Scriptures
7:30 a.m.
JOHN 15:1-8 (NRSV) I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinegrower. 2He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. 3You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. 5I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. 6Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the re, and burned. 7If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8My Father is gloried by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.
1 5-8

"I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you're joined with me and I with you, the rela on in mate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can't produce a thing. Anyone who separates from me is deadwood, gathered up and thrown on the bonre. But if you make yourselves at home with me and my words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon. This is how my Father shows who he iswhen you produce grapes, when you mature as my disciples.

6:00 p.m.
UNISON SCRIPTURES JOHN 15:1-8 (NIV)

11:00 a.m.
JOHN 15:1-8 (THE MESSAGE) "I am the Real Vine and my Father is the Farmer. He cuts o every branch of me that doesn't bear grapes. And every branch that is grape-bearing he prunes back so it will bear even more. You are already pruned back by the message I have spoken. 4"Live in me. Make your home in me just as I do in you. In the same way that a branch can't bear grapes by itself but only by being joined to the vine, you can't bear fruit unless you are joined with me.
1-3

I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts o every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more frui ul. 3You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the re and burned. 7If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 8This is to my Fathers glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

A Word From the Pastor

Family,
One of the provisions of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protec on Act directs the U.S. Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) to ins tute new rules related to disclosure of conict minerals used in their products. These new requirements focus specically on material origina ng in the Democra c Republic of Congo (DRC) and adjoining countries. Applying to all companies, domes c or interna onal, that report to the SEC, Sec on 1502 of the Act DRC conict free applies to the DRC, as well as Angola, Burundi, the Central African Republic, the Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. While this Act was passed in September 2010, and the SEC was to implement the rules by April 17, 2011, nal regula ons are s ll pending. Some of the delay is due to complexity, but some of it is also due to companies complaints and nego a ons with the SEC. Essen ally, the rules require companies to disclose: The measures taken by the company to exercise due diligence regarding the source and chain of custody of conict minerals The products manufactured or contracted to be manufactured that are not DRC conict free The organiza on or en ty that conducted the audit, and The facili es used to process the conict minerals, the country of origin of the conict minerals, and the eorts to determine the mine or loca on of origin with the greatest possible specicity A WORD FROM THE PASTOR

These rules do not create penal es for the use of conict minerals like Coltan, but are meant to create transparency so that individuals and ins tu ons can apply public pressure on those companies that do not ac vely develop DRC Conict Free alterna ves. In a recent ar cle in Crains Chicago Business, they discussed how four Chicago -area businesses, Boeing Co., Kra Foods, Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solu ons, are reac ng to this new regula on. With that in mind, next Sunday, Trinity UCC will begin the public pressure the regula on hoped to s mulate, as we will provide le ers for you to sign and send to those local companies, to encourage them to both comply with the regula ons and to aggressively pursue DRC Conict Free minerals in the produc on of their products. Asking you to imagine The DRC as conict free,

Mission 1 is a call to ac on by our denomina on, the United Church of Christ, to confront hunger/ food insecurity and food-related injus ces, locally and globally. Trinity United Church of Christ has a long history of commitment to libera on through compassionate care and advocacy for jus ce. Each month our Food Share Ministry distributes approximately 4,200 food items to families in need; last year, we provided 3,750 Thanksgiving baskets to families in Chicago and Benton Harbor, MI. During these dicult economic mes, God is calling us to do more! In that spirit, we are combining our exis ng eorts with the na onal Mission 1 campaign. Specically, we want God to give us the capacity to bless 5,000 families with a Thanksgiving basket and ght hunger in Africa. A Word From the Pastor

As followers of Christ, we are called to clothe the naked, give drink to the thirsty, visit the prisoner, and indeed, feed the hungry. In America - the land of plenty - there are over 50 million people struggling to keep food on their tables, including 33% of all African American families! Globally, there are 925 million people suering from chronic hunger. As a church, we have consistently priori zed our resources and provided food for our families in need. For Mission 1, all across the country, UCC congrega ons are coming together to address the issue of hunger and food injus ce. In addi on, the Illinois Conference of the UCC has made a commitment to meet or exceed 10% of the denomina ons goal, in each category, and asks all of its congrega ons to contribute. It is with a great sense of communal care and compassion that Trinity UCC combines, and expands our exis ng eorts with our brothers and sisters in our United Church of Christ family, to make an even greater impact on this imminently curable plague.
