About Online Secure Shopping

1. What is Online Secure Shopping? Online Secure Shopping is a new service from Visa/MasterCard and Samba that provides added security when you shop online by providing added protection against unauthorized use of your enrolled card.

2. How does Online Secure Shopping work? Once you've registered and created your own personal password, every time you make an online purchase at a participating retailer, a screen will automatically ask you for your password, similar to the way your bank asks for your PIN at the ATM. When you correctly enter your password, Samba will confirm that you are the authorized cardholder and your purchase is completed.

3. How does Online Secure Shopping protect me? First you must register and create a password. Each time you make an online purchase at a participating retailer, a screen will appear automatically asking for your password, like the bank asks for your PIN at the ATM. When you correctly enter your password, you confirm that you are the authorized cardholder and your purchase is completed. If the correct password is not supplied, Samba cannot confirm your identity and so the purchase will not go through. So even if someone knew your card number, they would not be able to use your account at that retailer.

4. Is Online Secure Shopping easy to use? Yes. When you make an online purchase and enter your Visa/MasterCard payment information, a Samba screen will automatically appear and prompt you for your password. After reviewing the details of your purchase and confirming that your Personal Message (see "What is a Personal Message?" for more details) is correct, simply enter your password to complete your purchase.

5. Will I need to get a new card to use Online Secure Shopping? No, there is no need to get a new card. Online Secure Shopping works with your existing Visa/MasterCard card.

6. Can I use Online Secure Shopping from any computer? Yes. There's no special software to install, so you can shop from any computer and still receive the added protection provided by Online Secure Shopping.

7. What will happen when my card expires or my billing information changes? Samba will automatically update this information in your profile. The only time you need to update your Online Secure Shopping profile yourself is when you want to change your password.

8. What will happen if I cancel my existing card then get a new one with a different account number from Samba? You will need to register the new card for Online Secure Shopping. Simply return to the registration site, and complete the registration process with your new card. It's quick and easy.

9. Why do I have to supply personal information during registration? The information you provide is checked against the information that Samba already has on file, however, the only personal information stored by Visa/MasterCard is your account number. This information, along with the password and Personal Message you create, is all stored on a secure server is never shared with the retailer. We ask for this information as a security precaution to be sure that the person registering is the real cardholder.

10. Why do I have to enter all of my personal information again when I enroll a second card? All of the information you provide is checked against the information that Samba has on file to be sure the person registering is the actual cardholder. You are asked to enter the information again when you enroll a second card for your own protection. That way, Samba can be sure the real cardholder is registering the card.

11. Can I register more than one card at a time so that they all have the same password? Each Visa/MasterCard card must be separately registered for Online Secure Shopping so that it is individually protected. For each account registration, you will be asked to select a password that complies with Samba's requirements. We recommend that you select a password that will be easy for you to remember, but difficult for others to guess.

12. Is my password case sensitive? Yes, it is.

13. What is a Personal Message? The Personal Message is a message that you create during registration. Each time you make an online purchase at a participating retailer, a screen will ask you to enter your password. In this box, you'll see your Personal Message and other purchase details. The Personal Message is your assurance that you are communicating with, and submitting your password to Samba. If the Personal Message displayed in the screen is incorrect, you should not enter your password, but should instead contact SambaPhone immediately by calling the phone numbers on the back of your enrolled Visa/MasterCard card, to report a possible fraud.

14. What do I do if I have questions during the registration process? If you have questions, or need assistance during the registration process, you should contact SambaPhone at the phone numbers listed on the back of your Visa/MasterCard car.

Online-Purchase Enrolment 15. Why did I get a registration screen when I haven't signed up for this service? Samba is making it easier for you to register for this added protection by offering you the opportunity to sign up online at the time of your transaction.

16. Who is asking me for this information? The screen requesting that you enter personal information to verify your identity comes directly from Samba. The entire Online Secure Shopping communication is between you and Samba, via a secure channel, and the retailer cannot see any of your information.

Shopping with Online Secure Shopping 17. How do I use my password? There is no need to login or sign in. When you make a purchase at a participating retailer and enter your Visa/MasterCard payment details, a screen will automatically appear from Samba requesting your password. After reviewing the details of your purchase and confirming that your Personal Message is correct, simply enter your password to complete your purchase.

18. How will Online Secure Shopping impact my purchase? Aside from the added protection that Online Secure Shopping provides, the only impact to your purchase will be that you will need to type in your password when the request box pops up and then wait a few seconds while Samba confirms your identity.

19. Can I start shopping with my card as soon as I register? Yes. You can begin using your card at participating retailers immediately after completing your registration; no waiting period is necessary.

20. Can I purchase at retailers that accept Visa/MasterCard but do not participate in the Online Secure Shopping service? Yes, but you will not be asked for your password at these retailers. To complete your purchase, simply follow the traditional checkout process.

21. How will the online retailer know that my card is protected by Online Secure Shopping? When you use a card you have enrolled in the Online Secure Shopping service at participating online retailers, your Visa/MasterCard card number is automatically recognized via a Visa/MasterCard directory.

22. Can I view the records of my secured purchases? To view a list of all purchases authenticated with your password, return to the welcome page, click on the "Account Management" tab and login to view your "Secured Transaction History".

23. I forgot my password. What should I do? You should contact SambaPhone at the phone numbers on the back of your enrolled card who will reset the system to allow to return to the enrolment site and click on "Register Now". You will then be able to re-register for password and create a new password.

24. What if my Personal Message is missing or incorrect? If the Personal Message is missing from the password request screen, or if an incorrect Personal Message is displayed, you should not submit your password, but should instead contact SambaPhone immediately by calling the numbers on the back of your enrolled card.

25. How do I know whether a retailer participates in the Online Secure Shopping or not? Participating retailers will display the Online Secure Shopping logo on their site.

Account Management 26. Why do I need to manage my account? This feature allows you to change your password or Personal Message, if you like. In addition, you can view your secured transaction history, or cancel your password enrolment. 27. How do I access this feature? Simply return to the URL where you registered and click on the "Account Management" link on the welcome page. You will be asked to enter your name, card number and password to login.

28. Why couldn't the SambaPhone representative tell me my password? Your password is so secure that you are the only person who knows what it is. Samba only has an encrypted (that is, scrambled) version of your Code, not the password itself. The stored encrypted version is matched against the encrypted message sent by your browser to confirm your identity during a transaction. There is no way for a SambaPhone staff to "unscramble" your password, so you must reset it personally.

29. How do I change my password? Access the Account Management feature by returning to the registration site and clicking on the "Account Management" link on the welcome page. You can then login and change your password to anything you want as long as it is meets Samba's requirements (as shown under the data entry box) and is different from your Personal Message. Click "Update" to save your changes.

30. How do I change my Personal Message? Access the Account Management feature by returning to the registration site and clicking on the "Account Management" link on the welcome page. You can then login and change your Personal Message to anything you want as long as it is between 1 and 30 characters and is different from your password. Click "Update" to save your changes.

31. How far back does my transaction history go? The available dates are shown in the drop down menu. Select the time period and click on "Display Transactions". Please keep in mind that the Transaction History shows only those purchases made using your password and may include purchases that were declined or cancelled after you had already entered your password.

Security and Privacy

32. Why do I have to supply my personal information during registration? The information you provide is checked against the information that Samba has on file. This is done as a security precaution to be sure that the person registering is the real cardholder. This personal data is not shared with the retailer or any third party.

33. Why do I have to enter all of my personal information again when I enroll a second card? You are asked to enter the information again when you enroll a second card for your own protection. All of the information you provide is checked against the information that Samba has on file for you. That way, the Samba can be sure the real cardholder is registering the card.

34. How will the online retailer know that my card is protected by Online Secure Shopping? When you use a card you have enrolled in Online Secure Shopping at participating online retailers, the retailer does not know that your account is protected until you finish the purchase and confirm your identity to Samba. At that point, Samba guarantees your purchase to the retailer, but never shares your password.

35. Where can I view Terms and Conditions? You should visit Samba's website for the Terms and Conditions specific to the type of Visa/MasterCard card you have.

36. Where can I review the Privacy Policy? You should visit Samba's website for the privacy policy.

37. Will my personal information be used without my permission? Absolutely not. Your information will only be used in accordance with Samba's privacy policy. To review Sambas privacy policy, please visit Samba website.

38. Does the service use cookies? No. The Online Secure Shopping service does not use cookies that are stored in your desktop. Instead, the software uses "session cookies" which are temporarily stored on your desktop and then immediately (and automatically) deleted when you go offline.

How to Cancel

39. How can I cancel my Online Secure Shopping enrolment? Our recommendation would be to keep your card actively registered. However, to cancel your password registration, you can contact SambaPhone at the phone numbers on the back of your enrolled card and request to "Cancel your Enrolment". Once you cancel your enrolment, you will no longer receive the screen from your issuer requesting your password when you make an online purchase. Other than this, your ability to use your Visa/MasterCard card at any Visa/MasterCard retailer is the same as before.

40. Can I later re-activate this service? Yes, simply contact SambaPhone at the phone numbers on the back of your enrolled card and request your account to be re-activated for enrollment. However, the new password you create must be different from your original password for security reasons.
