By: Cristian Louie P. Bagang and Ryann Chel L. Quismundo Realizing the core essence of SIAM was the secret of success for the VOLUNTEER SERVICE PROVIDER (VSP) as they grab the most sought-after award for two consecutive years, the BEST SIAM PROJECT 2011 with the project entitled R.E.F.L.U.S.H. (Rekindle the Enthusiasm For Love of Ultimate Safety and Hygiene) in the recently concluded Student Involvement Activity Month Culmination at San Pedro College Gymnasium, February 20, 2011. REFLUSH was the sequel of VSPs SIAM Project last year in response to the long-existing problem, the lack of comfort rooms in the Marilog District to cater its fastrising population. The VSP as the pioneering organization in collaboration with the SPCCES (San Pedro College Community Extension Service) and with the two other student organizations, the COMMITS (Community of Information Technology Students) and LES (League of Education Students), driven with a common goal of promoting life and health in the hands of the people. The Indigenous Peoples Community of Sitio Tribal Village, Barangay Salumay, Marilog District, Davao City was the chosen beneficiary for the project. The area is one of the farthest partner communities of the San Pedro College Community Extension Service (SPC-CES). Majority of its population are Indigenous People belonging to the Matigsalog Tribe with no water-sealed comfort room. Hence, the creation 2 comfort rooms in the area were made possible. Active participation was actualized in the said project. Student Volunteers together with the community people worked hand in hand in building the 2 comfort rooms. Nalipay gyud mi ug dako kay mao ni ang una nga CR diri sa among kumunidad ug mapasalamaton mi kay naabot mo diri sa amu-a. Ubay-ubay pud inyng natabangan ilabi na sa aspeto sa panglawas ug kalimpyo, (name of tribal leader), Sitio Tribal Village tribal leader says. Indeed, this noble project had marked a legacy in the community. With this outstanding advocacy, it is no doubt that this project gained various recognitions worthy for emulation. The LCO (League of Clubs and Organizations) also cited the project to have the Best Propaganda and the Most Reaching-Out Project for extending resources to the farthest adopted community. Nonetheless, with passion for service, the VSP grabbed the BEST SIAM PROJECT as recognized by the LCO and the GAWAD PEDRO 2011 for 2 consecutive years in a row. Thus, the VSP leads the best example of Social Integration, Community Participation and Collaboration and

Unity amidst diversity of student clubs and organization in realizing a Transformational Project perhaps enhancing the capability of the community to become self-reliant.
