Analysis of NMIMS 2005

The NMIMS paper this year was different from last years pattern. As it was
suggested, paper was containing 200 questions spreaded across five sections.
Major change in the paper pattern is the introduction of GK section. Overall
the difficulty level was average.

Marking pattern: one mark for each correct answer. Negative marking was
there but the weightage was not mentioned.(1/3 negative marking is
mentioned in the NMIMS broucher)

This section was containing certain questions based on Reasoning. Overall


difficulty level was average. Total attempts should be 22+ and score should
be 18+.

Section II

This section was to check the language ability of the student. 14 questions
were on synonyms and antonyms. RC (2 passages each containing 5
questions) and both the passages were of average difficulty level. There
were 6 questions on fill in the blanks type. The standard was average.
Attempts should be 25+ and score should be 18+.

Section III

Out of total 40 questions this year, there were 30+ questions from arithmetic
and the remaining questions from mensuration and algebra. In arithmetic,
mostly the questions were from allegation, partnership, stocks & shares and
speed-time-distance. Total attempts should be 20+ and score should be 16+

Section IV

The DI section was very easy. There were 28 questions on data


interpretation. There were 8 questions on DS of average difficulty level.

An attempt of 27+ and score of 22+ is expected in this section.

Section V

It contained a total of 40 questions on general awareness. The level of


difficulty was tough. Questions were covered from areas like: current affairs,
Olympics, politics etc. There were only 8 to 10 questions based on static GK
where as the remaining were from current affairs. Number of attempts
should be 12 to 14 with a score of 8+.

Students with over all score of 90+ can expect a call from NMIMS.
