Students in Grades 7 - 12: Do you like History? Museums?? Become a Youth Intern!

Students in Grades 7-12 are invited to apply for a Youth Internship at the North Berrien Historical Museum in Coloma, Michigan. Youth Interns are trained to volunteer for the museum and will contribute to real projects that support our mission to preserve and promote local history! At the scheduled sessions listed below, Youth Interns will work with the museums professional staff to understand more about Coloma-Watervliet area history, preservation of artifacts, and how we serve the public. Youth Interns will also learn more about career possibilities in museums, history, and culture, all while gaining an impressive internship experience perfect to list on resumes and college applications. The museum will hold a brief informational meeting on Monday, December 19, 2011, at 6pm. Please attend if you are interested in the Youth Internship program! To apply, complete and return the attached Application for the 2012 Youth Internship to the North Berrien Historical Museum by January 11, 2012.

Please read and provide required signatures below. All Youth Interns should meet these expectations: Attend all scheduled Youth Internship meetings, every other Wednesday after school: 2012 Youth January 25 March 7 April 18 Internship Schedule: February 8 March 21 May 2 (5:30-7pm) February 22 April 4 (12-3pm) Notify Director of Education Tracy Gierada in advance if you are unable to attend any scheduled meeting. Athletic practices are not an excusable absence. Attend the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on May 2 In return, the North Berrien Historical Museum will provide: Complimentary snack at all after-school Youth Internship meetings Complimentary one-year Membership to the North Berrien Historical Society Training and ongoing direction to Youth Interns about their museum projects Professional reference for Youth Interns on future job applications We, the undersigned, understand and agree to the expectations of the Youth Intern and the role of the North Berrien Historical Museum in the 2012 Youth Internship Program.
