The CHARLOTTETOWN PONY CLUB invites you to join us for the 33rd ANNUAL HORSE SHOW. The Charlottetown Pony Club Competition is sanctioned as Bronze Competition Member of Equine Canada (EC), 2685 Queensview Drive, Suite 100, Ottawa, Ontario, K2B8K2, and is governed by the rules of Equine Canada. EQUINE CANADA SPORT LICENSE MEMBERSHIPS ARE NECESSARY TO COMPETE IN CLASSES, except the Lead Line and Walk Trot class (A207). Sport License must be purchased from Equine Canada PRIOR TO COMPETITION. Visit www.equinecanada.ca for Sport License Memberships. Passports are not necessary to compete in any classes. The show is open to all competitors. There are classes for all levels of riders, from beginners to experienced, both on the flat and/or over fences. Canteen service will be available. Competition Rules & Regulations
1. By entering the Charlottetown Pony Clubs 33rd Annual English Horse Show you have agreed to honour the EC rules and regulations as specified in this Prize List, and any changes deemed necessary by the Show Committee. Every class offered herein is covered by the rules and specifications of the current rules of EC and will be held and judged in accordance with the EC Rule Book. (A602.2)
STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES (Section A, Page v)
Equine Canada (EC), the national equestrian federation of Canada, supports adherence to humane treatment of horses in all activities under its jurisdiction. EC is committed to: Upholding the welfare of the horses, regardless of value, as a primary consideration in all activities; Requiring that horses be treated with kindness, respect and the compassion that they deserve, and that they never be subjected tomistreatment; Ensuring that owners, trainers and exhibitors or their agents use responsible care in the handling, treatment and transportation of their horses as well as horses placed in their care for any purpose; Providing for the continuous well-being of horses by encouraging routine inspection and consultation with health care professionalsand competition officials to achieve the highest possible standards of nutrition, health, comfort and safety as a matter of standard operating procedure; Continuing to support scientific studies on equine health and welfare; Requiring owners, trainers and exhibitors to know and follow their sanctioning organizations rules, and to work within industryregulations in all equestrian competition; Reviewing, revising and developing competition rules and regulations that protect the welfare of the horses. The standard by which conduct or treatment will be measured is that which a person, informed and experienced in generally accepted equine training and exhibition procedures, would determine to be neither cruel, abusive nor inhumane.

*Individual Points will be recorded from the EC Bronze Level Competition(s), then at the end of the competitive show year (2011), the individual points are calculated for possible awards under the EC Bronze Level of Competition.* 2. ENTRY DEADLINE is May 20th ,2011 for receipt of entries by the Show Secretary. All entries received after this date will be charged a $25 late fee. Cheques are payable to CHARLOTTETOWN PONY CLUB. No phone entries please. Entry, waiver, and non-member risk form must be signed by the owner, or agent and parent (if exhibitor is under 18 years old) in order to be accepted. 3. PSO Insurance is MANDATORY. No one may show without proof of insurance. This must be paid through Island Horse Council and is now only $25 for the entire year for any individual. Temporary insurance may NOT be purchased. Out-of-Province competitors must show proof of liability insurance from their own provincial board. In addition, competitors must have an EC Bronze Level of Competition Sport License Membership before the competition. 4. 75% of entry fees will be refunded if a veterinarian or doctor's certificate is supplied to the Show Secretary within 3 days before or after the show. 5. The competition points that go towards High Pt. and Division Awards will be calculated as a one horse/pony one rider combination. This is to encourage the Pony Club spirit of sportsmanship. 6. The Show Committee reserves the right to cancel or combine classes where deemed advisable. 7. The Show Committee, Charlottetown Pony Club, Equine Canada and its officials, Island Horse Council, and Strathgartney Equine Park will not be held responsible for any loss, illness or injury to horse, rider, grooms, volunteers, officials and spectators at this Show. 8. Ponies measure 14.2 hh and under. According to EC Rules (2011), all ponies are allowed to be measured on the show grounds. All ponies to show as listed on entry. Junior A riders may not Ride B or C ponies. Junior B and C riders may ride A, B, or C ponies. No Hors Concors allowed for this competition. 9. EC requires that ALL competitors must wear approved hard hats secured with a safety harness permanently affixed to the helmet in all classes, in the warm-up area, and whenever mounted on the Show Grounds. The Show Committee also requires boots with a heel in all classes, in the warm-up area, and whenever mounted on the Show Grounds. If a hard hat falls off, it must be retrieved before continuing to ride. 10. The abuse or inhumane treatment of a horse by an exhibitor, trainer, or other person shall not be tolerated, and will be determined by the Steward along with Show Committee. Such abuse of a horse may result in a penalty, forfeit of prizes and asked to leave the show grounds. 11. Drug Testing Fee of $3.50 per animal must be paid with the entry. Any horse/pony entered in any class at an EC sanctioned competition is subject to the requirement to pay drug testing fees and may while on the competition grounds and on the recommendation of the chair of the Provincial Equine Medication Control Committee or the Chairs appointee, be randomly selected for equine medication control testing. 12. Parking to be designated by Show Committee. 13. Pets MUST be on a leash. If a pet is a disturbance to the competitors and the horses, the pet owner may be asked to remove the pet from the Show Grounds. As per the policy of the Canadian Pony Club, stallions are not permitted on the show grounds. This is to ensure the safety of our young riders and their mounts. Competition Class Specifications:


Hunter O/F Classes (Section G, Chapter 2,3,&4): To be judged on performance, manners, way of going with emphasis on manners. Conformation not to count. Hunting soundness only required. Working Hunter Under Saddle (Section G, Chapter 3): To be shown at a walk, trot, canter both ways of the ring. May be asked to gallop. To show in this class a competitor must have successfully completed at least one over fences class in the division entered.(G316) Equitation Classes (Section G, Chapter 10): To be judged on the riders position (basic seat) and performance. To be shown at a walk, trot, canter both ways of the ring. Judge may ask to perform a pattern to view individual position and performance. Classes are categorized according to Riders Age. Pleasure Classes (Section G, Chapter 10): To be shown at a flat-footed walk, normal trot and easy canter both ways of the ring. Medium to light contact to be maintained. Not to gallop. To stand quietly and back upon request. Judged on manners, conformation, and performance. Road Hack Classes (Section G, Chapter 13): To be shown at a flat-footed walk with a reasonably loose rein, trot, strong trot, easy canter and hand gallop. No more than 8 horses/ponies to gallop at one time. Judged on performance, conformation, quality and manners.

Starter Rider Classes (Section G, Chapter 12 &13): To be shown at a flat-footed walk, normal trot and easy canter both ways of the ring. Not to gallop. Judged on manners and performance. *Reminder: Competitor may not enter other divisions and classes if entered in Starter Division. Green Horse Classes (Section G, Chapter 12 &13): To be shown at a flat-footed walk, normal trot and easy canter both ways of the ring. Not to gallop. Judged on manners and performance. *Reminder: Competitor may not enter other divisions and classes if entered in Green Horse Division.

Warm-Up Rounds: Saturday & Sunday mornings before the Horse Show start time. See the class lists for scheduled times. First Come, First Served Basis. Times will be STRICTLY ENFORCED*-Max. Time in Ring -2 minutes.
PRIZES: RIBBONS will be given for 1st to 5th in every class. *Reminder Individual Points will be recorded from the EC Bronze Level Competition(s). At the end of the competitive show year (2011), the individual points are calculated for possible awards under the EC Bronze Level of Competition.* SPECIAL AWARD: High Pt. Pony Club Member- The most points accumulated from the show by a Current Pony Club Member. Points must be the result of a combination of ONE rider and ONE horse/pony. HIGH POINT. AWARDS: High Pt. Pony - Competitors must enter appropriate Equitation Class, Pony Hack Division, Pony Hunter Division to be eligible for the High Pt. Pony Cooler. High Pt. Horse- Competitors must enter appropriate Equitation Class, Horse Hack Division, and one of the following Hunter Divisions; Low Hunter or Horse Hunter to be eligible for the High Pt. Horse Cooler. HORSE HUNTER CLASSIC: Adelle Coffin Memorial Hunter Classic - Memorial Trophy & Cooler HIGH POINT. DIVISION AWARDS: High Pt. Sm/Med.Pony Hunter Division -(3 classes/division) Competitors must enter the Sm/Med.Pony Hunter Division to be eligible for the High Pt. Sm/Med. Pony Hunter Cooler. High Pt. Lg. Pony Hunter Division -(3 classes/division) Competitors must enter the Lg. Pony Hunter Division to be eligible for the High Pt. Lg. Pony Hunter Cooler High Pt. Beginner Hunter Division (3 classes/division) Competitors must enter the Beginner Hunter Division, to be eligible for the High Pt. Beginner Hunter Cooler. High Pt. Low Hunter Division - (3 classes/division) Competitors must enter the Low Hunter Division to be eligible for the High Pt. Low Hunter Cooler. High Pt. Horse Hunter Division - (3 classes/division) Competitors must enter the Horse Hunter Division to be eligible for the High Pt. Horse Hunter Cooler. High Pt. Pony Hack Division - (3 classes/division) Competitors must enter the Combined Pony Hack Division to be eligible for the High Pt. Pony Hack Cooler. High Pt. Horse Hack Division - (3 classes/division) Competitors must enter the Horse Hack Division to be eligible for the High Pt. Horse Hack Cooler. High Pt. Walk/Trot Hunter Division- (4 classes/division) Competitors must enter the Walk/Trot Hunter Division to be eligible for the division prize. High Pt. Short Stirrup Hunter Division- (4 classes/division) Competitors must enter the Short Stirrup Hunter Division to be eligible for the division prize. High Pt. Cross Pole Hunter Division- (4 classes/division) Competitors must enter the Cross Pole Hunter Division to be eligible for the division prize. High Pt. X & Os Hunter Division (4 classes/division) Competitors must enter the X & Os Hunter Division to be eligible for the division prize. High Pt. Starter Rider Division (3 classes/division) Competitors must enter the Starter Rider Division to be eligible for the division prize. High Pt. Green Horse Division (3 classes/division) Competitors must enter the Green Horse Division to be eligible for the division prize.

JUMPER CLASSES: Ralph Manning Memorial Pony Club Jumper Class - Memorial Trophy & Keeper Trophy Open Jumper Stake Class - Cash Prize (Entry Fees are Winnings, 40% - 1st, 30% - 2nd, 15% - 3rd, 10% - 4th, 5% -5th) & Cooler

LIST OF DIVISIONS AND CLASSES Walk/Trot Hunter Division (Rider 12 yrs. old and under) - (4 classes/division) Fences will be defined as one pole on the ground between two standards to encourage the start of riding a hunter course. Competitors may NOT enter any other division or classes in this show. Short Stirrup Hunter Division (Rider 12 yrs. old and under) - (4 classes/division) Four (4) Fences will be set to maximum 18height. This division is to encourage the riding of a hunter course, but less fences to jump. Competitors may NOT enter any other division or classes EXCEPT the Equitation Cclass. Cross Pole Hunter Division (Pony or Horse) (4 classes/division) - Fences to maximum 18"height. A hunter division for inexperienced riders or horses/ponies only over a course of cross pole fences with no combinations. Competitors may NOT enter any other division or classes EXCEPT the Equitation class at appropriate age level and the Pony Club Jumper Class at the 18" level. X and Os Hunter Division (Pony or Horse) (4 classes/division) Fences will be a combination of cross rails and small verticals to a maximum of 2.0. Competitors may NOT enter any other division or classes EXCEPT the Equitation class at appropriate age level and the Pony Club Jumper Class at the 2.0 level. Beginner Hunter Division (Horse Only) - Fences to maximum 2'3". Riders and horses that may be introduced to the Hunter Course. Competitors may NOT enter any other O/F division or O/F classes EXCEPT the Schooling Hunter Class 26 and the Pony Club Jumper Class at the 2'3 level. Sm/Med Pony Hunter Division (Pony Only) (G306) - Fences in accordance with pony size. Fences 2'3", 2'6 height/spread. Please Refer to Rule #8, for more information. Competitors may NOT enter any other O/F division or O/F classes EXCEPT the Pony Club Jumper Class at the heights according to size.
Lg. Pony Hunter Division (Pony Only) (G306) - Fences in accordance with pony size. Fences 2'9"

Low Hunter Division (Horse Only) - Fences - 2'6 29. Competitors may enter the Schooling Hunter Class (26), Horse Hunter Classic, Pony Club Jumper, and Open Jumper class at the same specifications. NEW ** Schooling Hunter Class** (Horse Only)- Fences to maximum 26 This class may be entered by the Beginner Hunter Division, Low Hunter, and Horse Hunter. It will not affect any points for awards. Horse Hunter Division (Horse Only) - Fences 29 - 3'. Competitors may enter the Schooling Hunter Class ( 26), Horse Hunter Classic, Pony Club Jumper and Open Jumper class at the same specifications. Adelle Coffin Memorial Hunter Classic (Horse only) - Fences - 26 - 29and 29 - 3' hunter courses. Judged on two scored rounds. First hunter round will be judged on a course of 12 fences. Second round will be judged on a course of 10 fences. The first and second round will be back to back according to each height.
Ralph Manning Memorial Pony Club Jumper (Pony or Horse) Section G, Chapter 5, Heights according to entries (18- 3). Open to competitors however, only current Pony Club members and Pony Club alumni may qualify for the Memorial Trophy. This jumper class will follow Table A. Will run back to back according to each height.

Open Jumper Stake (Horse Only) Section G, Chapter 5, Heights - 26- 2'9 and 29 - 3'. This jumper class will follow Table A. Will run back to back according to each height. Lead Line Class A class for riders 12yrs. old and under. Entries must wear approved helmets and boots. Horses/ponies to be led by a competent handler. Handler(s) must be an adult, wear approved helmet(s), boots, and proper attire (no shorts). Riders under 6 must be accompanied by a second handler. Entries in this class may NOT enter any other classes. Prizes and treats to be presented. Walk/ Trot Class - A class for riders 12yrs. old and under. To be shown at a walk and easy trot. Entries must wear approved helmets and boots. Entries in this class may NOT enter any other classes. Prizes and treats to be presented. Green Horse Division- (3 classes/division) This division is to introduce green horses with experienced riders to the show ring. Entries in this class may NOT enter any other division or classes. Starter Rider Division- (3 classes/division) This Division is intended to encourage beginning, inexperienced riders in year 1 or 2 of showing, on experienced ponies or horses. It is not open to those who have previously been a Division Champion in this or other shows. Riders in this division are not eligible to enter any other class (hack or hunter). Starter Rider Equitation. Open to riders in the Starter Rider Division only. Green Horse Equitation. Open to riders in the Green Horse Division only. EQUITATION CLASSES (Basic Seat- Section G, Chapter 10) English Equitation "A". Riders are considered an Equitation A rider if their age is between the beginning of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 16 until the end of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 18. English Equitation "B". Riders are considered an Equitation B rider if their age is between the beginning of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 13 until the end of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 16. English Equitation "C". Riders are considered an Equitation C if their age by the end of the calendar year in which they reach 12 yrs. Sr. Equitation, Open to Seniors who have passed their 18th birthday as of January 1, 2011. HACK DIVISIONS Pony Hack Division. Refer to Class Specifications. Horse Hack Division. Refer to Class Specifications.

I acknowledge that the sport of horses is a high risk sport and that I am participating at my own risk and in full knowledge of the hazards and potential hazards which are inherent in this sport. I further acknowledge the inherent risks in riding and working around horses, which risks include bodily injury to both horse and rider that can result from normal use, competition or schooling. I will wear (or if a parent of a competitor under 18, I will insure my child wears) an approved hard hat at all times while mounted. As the parent of a lead line entry, I declare the handler to be a competent horseperson. In consideration of being allowed to participate in this event, I hereby assume all risk and I hereby release and absolve the Show Committee, the Charlottetown Pony Club, Equine Canada and its officials, judge, volunteers, officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees, Strathgartney Equine Park and the owners and occupiers of the land upon which the show is held, from all responsibility, liability or claims of any nature and kind which I may have arising from my participation in this activity, including but not limited to bodily injury or death to myself or my horse(s) and damage to property arising from any cause whatever, including the negligence of one or more of the individuals and organizations referred to herein. I hereby declare that in making this entry that I have read and fully understand and agree to the terms and conditions stated herein and that it is binding upon my executors, heirs and assigns.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. 1) I acknowledge that any activity involving horses is high risk including but not limited to: (a) The propensity of any equine to behave in ways that may result in injury, harm or death to persons on or around them and to potentially collide with, bite or kick other animals, people or objects; (b) The unpredictability of an equines reaction to such things as sounds, sudden movement, tremors, vibrations, unfamiliar objects, persons or other animals and hazards such as subsurface objects; (c) The potential for other participants to behave in a negligent manner that may contribute to injury to themselves or others, including failing to act within their abilities to maintain control over an equine. 2) I acknowledge that I am participating at my own risk and in full knowledge of the hazards and potential hazards inherent in this activity as well as the inherent risks of riding or being around horses including bodily injury and/or property damage resulting from normal use, competition or schooling. 3) In addition to consideration given for my Participation in _______________________________________________________, being held at ____________________________________________________, on the ________ day/s of ____________, 200___, I and my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns agree; To Waive All Claims that I might have against the Organizing Committee, the Canadian Pony Club and its affiliated clubs, as well as their directors, officers, agents, representatives, employees, officials, members, volunteers and the owners or occupiers of the land(s) upon which the competition/activity is held (all of them collectively hereinafter referred to as the "HOST"); and To Release the HOST" from Any and All Liability for any loss, damages, injury, or expense that I or my Legal Representatives might suffer as a result of my Participation due to any cause whatsoever including any NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE HOST; and To HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY THE HOST from any and all liability for bodily injury or property damage to any third party which might result from my Participation. 4) I hereby declare that in signing this document I have read and fully understood and agree to the terms and conditions stated herein and that it is binding upon my executors, heirs and assigns.
