ABSTRACT
ICs, the main component of each and every electronic circuit can be used for wide variety of purposes and functions. But sometime due to faulty ICs the circuit doesnt work. Indeed it is lot tedious work to debug the circuit and confirm whether the circuiting is creating problem or the IC itself is dead. So to come up with these sorts of problems we intend to make a project which would confirm whether the IC under consideration is working properly or not.

INTRODUCTION
An Integrated Circuit tester (IC tester) is used to test Integrated Circuits (ICs). We can easily test any digital IC using this kind of an IC tester. For testing an IC, we need to use different hardware circuits for different ICs; like we need a particular kind of tester for testing a logic gate and another for testing flip flops or shift registers which involves more complication and time involved will also be more. So heres an IC tester to overcome this problem. Unlike other IC testers, this is more reliable and easier since we dont need to rig up different kind of circuits for different kind of ICs, each time we need to test them. . We completed our project by going through these steps, We made a USB to Serial Programmer , We did the basic circuit on breadboard and Tried with few basic ICs on it. We developed the circuit which can put on PCB and can be used for all the ICs. To test a particular digital IC, one needs to insert the IC into the IC socket and enter the IC number using the keyboard and then press the ENTER key. The IC number gets displayed in the 7-segment display unit.

LITERATURE REVIEW
An essential factor adversely affecting the performance of IC tester is the improper circuit requirement. IC tester is made problematic due to unavailable different circuit element. Thus, this project focuses on the development of a mechanism to improve IC tester on IC testing through microcontroller programming. 1. circuiting on breadboard was not firm enough. It was unreliable so we remade our circuit on PCB. 2. With the help of internal clock, it was hard to synchronize the ICs which require clock so we created manual clock.

OBJECTIVE
The goal of digital IC tester is to overcome the problem of debugging in electronic circuit especially on IC failure in short time. The IC testers available in the market today which are usually expensive, this IC tester is affordable and user-friendly. This IC tester is constructed using 8051 microcontroller along with a keyboard and a display unit. It can test digital ICs having a maximum of 24 pins. Since it is programmable, any number of ICs can be tested within the constraint of the memory available. This IC tester can be used to test a wide variety of ICs which includes simple logic gates and also sequential and combinational ICs like flip-flops, counters, shift registers etc. It is portable and easy to use.

PLAN OF COMPLETION
We will try our level best to complete the project within the prescribed duration of time. We will be consistently consulting our project guide and keep working sincerely till our project is over. We will try our best to complete the project and submit it within a short span of two months.
