Just got my 9400 today and first job was to get it connected to the network.

Using my usual WEP setting i cannot get the 9400 to connect - will it not show c onnected until it finds an expander ? My RFX9600 is still in its box :) So far i've spent most of the evening messing with this rather than getting on w ith the important stuff... Thanks

Well - i bought 2 x 9400's - one for office one for home. Office one connected f ine - 64bit WEP - 10 digit ASCII code (like DEAB123456), fixed IP, old netgear w ireless 'b' only AP. Home one still no joy - 128bit WEP - 13 digit ASCII (like this 01234567890DB) se em to have no choice but use Capital's - have put this in passkey and hex boxes, Draytek Vigor 2600G using B + G setting, tried fixed IP and DHCP. Currently hav e 2 x Viewsonic Smart Displays and 1 x Nokia N800 all sitting on the wireless ne twork no problem... Any suggestions appreciated - its distracting me from using it as a remote :) TIA

Since most devices will not show the hex key, one does not know for sure that t his is the issue. It's a little more trouble, but more and more I'm simply using the full hex key. My router instructions :For 64 bit WEP key Type 5 ASCII character or 10 Hexadecimal digits leading by "0x", for example "AB 312" or "0x4142333132". Which i did admittedly using their example. My laptop had to use AB312, the router 0x4142333132, and the Pronto did this whe n pasted in 04142333132. And now its connected :) Hopefully everything else wireless will connect now....

Both of them had identical setting s in System Properties - their TCP/IP related settings were identical. In both X CF files, I had specified the value for "Passphrase". With the first XCF, my TSU 9400 could connect just fine to my router. With the second XCF, it could not con nect. I couldn't ping it from my PC, and it just said "Connecting...". I then ch anged the second XCF to specify the "HEX Key" instead of "Passphrase" in System Properties->Wireless Settings. Once I changed to using "HEX Key" (which my Links ys Wireless Access Point fortunately displays), the second XCF was able to conne ct okay. Thus, there seems to be an issue with the Pronto using the Passphrase r eliably, at least based on my aforementioned experience. Scott - you'll need to go into your router (or wireless access point) settings t o determine what SSID it is using, and provide the same value to Pronto. To get to your router, it's usually http://192.168.1.1 for Linksys and for D-Link http: //192.168.0.1. ReplyQuote! You can change it to customize it as you wish, but ensure that the router and its a clients all use the same value
