PREFACE

We in the present generation hardly know about our forefathers. My

grand father Shri Siddharth Rai Jain, who was the only son of Shri Sujan
Rai Jain, was born in 1857 and died in the year 1907. Not much is known
about our ancestors prior to Shri Sujan Rai, except for a photo of Lala
Khushal Rai Jain, grand father of Siddharth Rai, which can be seen on the
next pages. An available family tree has been printed which will serve as
future reference. To my regret life history of our forefathers is not
available with any one in the family
Shri Siddharth Rai Jain had three sons, 17 grand children and over
100 great grand children. The number of great great grand children has
risen further and their names, where available, appear in this compilation.
Now, in this compilation an effort has been made to bring to light some
salient features of the life of elders and the struggle they had to make in
life to bring up their children. This compilation has been possible with the
active willingness and participation of all my brothers, sisters & cousins in
furnishing the information.
The three sons of Shri Siddharth Rai Jain have been coded as (A)
(B) & (C) for the purpose of indexing. Shri Hari Narain Das has been coded
as A. His sons & daughters as A-1, A-2, A-3. His grand children are coded
(A-1-A), (A-1 -B) and great grand children as (A-1-A-1), (A-1-A-2) and so
on. Similarly Shri Hari Kishan Das is coded as B, his children as B-1, B-2,
B-3, grand children as B-1-A, B-2- A and so on. Shri Balwant Rai Jain has
been coded as (C) and his children as C-1, C-2 & C-3, etc. A few group
photographs of the family gatherings are appended at the end of this
compilation, these may be of immense interest to all members.
 While every care has been taken to compile this volume from the
available data, certain shortcomings are evident due to lack of information.
I hope that concerned members of our family will take some time off to
dig out old family group photographs, interesting incidents and
memorabilia to be shared with others. I also hope that they will update us
about themselves, as well as bring any omissions or commissions to our
notice for corrections to be included in the future copies as well as our
web site.
We are particularly keen on getting group photos, individual photos,
dates of birth, marriage etc., and small write up. The information may
either be sent on my address give below or emailed at

posting a line to our mailbox. This compilation of all available data is up to
