INSTRUCTION INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL FOR CAS

1. Enter the search area within which the target is liable to exist, i.e., area in which we need to find the target at different time periods.

2. There may exist two scenarios at the time, so enter the probabilities of each scenario.

3. Looking at the area and the numbered grids, enter the grid number with expected starting points.

Expected starting points. 4. Enter the probabilities of each starting points in each scenario.

5. Again looking at the search area which has been divided into grids, mark the path in terms of grid numbers as shown in the divided and numbered search area.

6. NOTE: starting point of each path should match with the starting point entered above in different scenarios.

RESULT INTERPRETATION
1.

Plots show the probability of target in different area at different time periods.

2. Colour intensity bar has been shown in the plot to find the areas with maximum and minimum probability of finding the target.

3.

To distribute the total efforts (which has been installed to find the target), bar plot has been given which shows the percentage of effort to be given to each path at different time interval.

EXAMPLE The example has taken following : The following values have been entered as an example: SCENARIO Scenario 1 Scenario 2 PROBABILITY 0.3 0.7

SPEEDS() SCENARIO Scenario1 Scenario2 60 0.3 0.3 100 0.5 0.5 120 0.2 0.3

*Points in the row of paths are the cell numbers through which the target is expected to pass during its course.

RESULTS The software provides the solution visually in the form of probabilities of expecting the target value and in the search area and the efforts to be given to different paths different time interval.

Explanation:

The colour bar shows the intensity of probability of target in different positions in the search area. That is, as the probability of finding the target in a certain area increases, colour intensity in the area is shown as per the colour markings. As the colour in a specific area moves from blue to yellow, the probability of finding the target inn that area increases.

Example : For time t=2 hours plot generated is:

According to our division of search area:

Mid- point of cell number 34.

The intersecting lines in the plot represent the centre point of each cell. Thus the points in the plot and search area from which pointers are coming out represent the same thing. Thus according to the plot, the highest probability of finding the target is in cell area 34 (from x axis= (4-1)x 10 + from y axis 4) and

HISTOGRAM INTERPRETATION For time t=2 hours, the efforts have to be distributed as:

According to the values taken in the example, the efforts have to be distributed as shown in the above graph. That is, maximum effort has to be distributed in the path 1 and rest equally distributed among the rest of the paths.
