QUESTION: IDENTIFY A RESEARCH TOPIC AND WRITE A COMPREHENSIVE RESEARCH PROPOSAL, SUGGESTING HOW EFFECTIVE AND FEASIBLE THE RESEARCH IS GOING TO BE. SOLUTION The research topic in which the research proposal is to be written on would be the causes and consequences of ethno-religious crisis in Nigeria (a case study of Plateau state of Nigeria). In the write-up of research proposal, it should be reiterated that the work would have five chapters consisting of the following: Chapter One.

Introduction: The chapter of the research proposal will seek to introduce the topic of the issue, which is the causes, and consequences of ethno-religious crisis in Nigeria. Under this section, the historical background of the study will be discussed, the researcher will find a way of seeing whether this crisis are in conformity with the enabling laws of the land or not. OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY: Under this section, the research work will look at the purpose of this study, which is to call the attention of the respective state governments to look beyond the causes and consequences to the solution of ethno-religious crisis in Nigeria. The research work will go to the extent of questionnaire to know the remote or proximate causes of ethno-religious crisis in Plateau state in order to determine on how Plateau state would maintain adequate system to enhance effective management operation of this crisis, ascertain the strength and weaknesses of the control mechanism in Plateau state and make recommendations where necessary for improvement of the control mechanism over the area under review. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY This section will take a look at the significance of the study in order to draw up the usefulness of the research work. This research

work is important because it will be beneficial to many sectors of the economy. It will be useful to the state governments, the researcher and the general public. It will help the government to know the extent to which the causes and consequences of ethnoreligious crisis in Nigeria can be tackle and therefore promote internal peace and responsibility. It will provide framework to the public on how to appreciate the effort of government on its objectives of providing adequate security services to the entire populace. SCOPE OF THE STUDY Due to the limited time within which this study is to be completed and the nature of the research itself, the study has been limited to Plateau state only. This is to allow for detailed study of the sample being studied. STATEMENT OF PROBLEM The problem under investigation here is the causes and consequences of ethno-religious crisis in Plateau state. Under this section, we will seek to know of what importance is National Emergency Management Agency to crisis reduction in the country? What is the level of crisis in the country? We will also

seek to see whether crisis can be eradicated completely if the relative authorities were more efficient in carrying out its tasks. RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS Hypothesis forms the basis for data collection and relevant research analysis and findings. It is a guide for the investigator in the entire process of research endeavour and they keep the researcher on the main line of study. DEFINITION OF TERMS At this point, it is considered necessary to offer definitions and meanings to some of the terms that may occur frequently in the write-up that forms the operational framework for this research work to facilitate clarity of purpose. CHAPTER TWO Under this section, the researcher will take a critical look on some literatures (books, projects etc) to see what other researcher have said or how far they have gone concerning the problem in their work and their suggestions. This chapter will tend to take a look at the meaning of the concept, the major classes of crisis, the causes, the consequences of crisis etc in Nigeria.

CHAPTER THREE Under this section, the researcher will also take a look at the methodology to be used for this work. It will also look at the sources of data collection to enable us look at other write-up such as textbooks, project journals etc. The methods of data collection will be looked at with particular reference to questionnaire method in order to generate consistent results. It will also look at the population sample of this study so as to obtain adequate information on the sample. CHAPTER FOUR This section will also look at the data presentation analysis, because the analysis of data is very essential to the research. It should be known that data becomes useful after analyzing and interpretation, this is necessary to bring out the relationship between variables thus all data collected for this research proposal work would be tabulated and analyzed using description method. CHAPTER FIVE This section will deal with the summary of the findings, conclusion of findings, as well as the limitation of the study, and the recommendation to the findings.
