About Saint Louis Saint Louis has started the season 2-0 in the fth year under the direction of Rick Majerus. SLU beat Tennessee State at home 71-37 and went on the road and downed Southern Illinois 61-42. Last season, SLU tied for 9th in the A-10 Conference after going 12-19 overall/6-10 conference. The Billikens return the top seven scorers from last season, including their leading scorer Michael McCall, who averaged 10.4 ppg. Through two games, 6-foot-6 forward Brian Conklin is leading the team with 12.5 ppg. Fellow frontcourt mate 6-foot-8 Cody Ellis is second with 12.0 ppg. In his 25th year, Majerus has compiled a 493-208 record. Majerus is 1-0 all-time vs. Washington, earning a 71-62 win on Dec. 5, 1989 while head coach at Utah. Romar Vs. Majerus Lorenzo Romar and Rich Majerus have faced off just once in their coaching histories. Majerus Utah Utes came out triumphant over Romars SLU team during the 2000 season. UW Vs. Atlantic-10 Conference Saint Louis joined the A-10 Conference in 2005. UW is 5-3 against the conference all-time (excluding UWs 6-7 record against the Billikens before they joined the conference). The last time the Huskies faced an Atlantic-10 team was Nov. 27, 1999 when UW lost 81-65 to Xavier in the Great Alaska Shootout. Last Time Out - Portland AP - Terrence Ross scored 13 of his 24 points in the rst half, and UW used big runs at the end of the rst half and beginning of the second to rout Portland 93-63 Monday in the nal game of the World Vision Basketball Classic. The Huskies closed out the three-day tournament with their most impressive effort. The young and undersized Pilots couldnt match Washingtons athleticism. Washington (3-0) got a scare from Florida Atlantic in the second game of the four-team event, holding on for a 77-71 victory. There was no such challenge from Portland, which was led by Tim Douglas 17 points. Washington closed the rst half on an 11-2 spurt, then started the second by scoring 14 of the rst 17 points to push its lead to 31 barely ve minutes in. Quick Hitters From Week One UW began its 110th season with three victories to win the World Vision Classic. C.J. Wilcox earned MVP honors, while Terrence Ross and Abdul Gaddy each were named to the All-Tournament team. The Huskies now have 863 wins inside Hec Edmundson Pavilion, more than any other program in their currernt arena. Five Huskies are averaging double-gure scoring, with Wilcox leading the way at 19.3 and a sixth, Aziz NDiaye is averaging 9.3 ppg. Six Huskies are averaging over 4 rebounds per game, with a seventh, Desmond Simmons, just under at 3.7 rpg. Mondays game vs. Portland was the 300th at UW for Lorenzo Romar. He is two wins shy of 200 for his Husky career.

Dawg Bites...
The 2011-12 Dawgs Washington returns 42.2 percent of its scoring and 43.2 percent of its rebounding from last years team that went 24-11 overall, won the Pac-10 Conference Tournament and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Washington loses three starters (Matthew BryanAmaning, Justin Holiday and Isaiah Thomas) from last season but returns six players that started at least four games and combined for 69 starts. Aziz NDiaye leads the way with 25 starts under his belt last season, but Darnell Gant has made 56 career starts while Abdul Gaddy has 42. C.J. Wilcox is Washingtons top returning scorer. The 2011 All-Pac-10 Freshman Team member averaged 8.1 ppg. Terrence Ross is next on the team with 8.0 ppg. The average combined height of the Huskies this season is 6-foot-6 and 1/2 inches. UW Bench: No Experience Required The Huskies current starting ve and bench players are stark contrasts in experience. Entering this season, UWs projected starters (NDiaye, Gant, Gaddy, Ross and Wilcox) had a combined 256 college games under their belts. With Scott Suggs (84 career games) out due to injury, the other nine guys had combined to play 23 games -- all by walkon Brendan Sherrer who has only played in games that the Huskies have won by 17 or more points. The Huskies have eight players on their roster that entered this year having never played in a college game during their careers, unless you count Desmond Simmons appearing in last years exhibition game vs. St. Martins before deciding to redshirt the season. Besides Simmons, Washingtons new faces include seven true freshmen: Andrew Andrews, Martin Breunig, Jernard Jarreau, Shawn Kemp Jr., Hikeem Stewart, Tony Wroten and walk-on Alex Wegner. Andrews and Jarreau will redshirt this season.

Welcome Back Gaddy Last Saturdays contest vs. Georgia State was Abdul Gaddys rst game since playing at UCLA on Dec. 31, 2010. Gaddy scored 7 points, grabbed a career-high 7 rebounds and dished 6 assists. His play caused Georgia States coach Ron Hunter to state: The key to their basketball team, is that point guard. (He) controls everything. When he plays well, theyre going to be hard to beat. That kids really good. You can see the glitter with the other guys, but that point guard hes special. Gaddy is returning from a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in his left knee suffered during practice on Jan. 4, 2011. Gaddy was cleared to return to action on Sept. 7, 2011 and has hardly missed a beat. He does not play with a brace and has competed fully since practice started in October. Gaddy was leading the Pac-10 in assist to turnover ratio at 3.1 (49 assists/16 turnovers) when he went down last season. His 3.8 assists per game was the seventh best average in the Pac-10 Conference and he also ranked ninth in three-point shooting percentage (40.6%). 3 Is (Almost) Better Than 2 Washington was a sparkling 27-of-56 (.482) from 3-point range during the World Vision Classic. They were just a tad better from 2-pont range, going 65-of-134 (.485). They are averaging 9.0 makes per game so far, a year removed from ranking rst in the Pac-10 last season with 8.7 makes per game and 12th nationally. Three Amigos Washington shot and made a school record 305 threepointers in 821 attempts in 2010-11. The Huskies return three of ve players who each hit at least 44 3-pointers, led by a UW freshman record 63 from C.J. Wilcox. Scott Suggs made 49 in 109 attempts (45%) to nish third in the Pac-10 percentage-wise and fth in UW single-season history. Suggs has made 89 three-pointers in his career, the 10th most in UW history. Terrence Ross hit 44 as a true freshman. Senior Statements Darnell Gant and Scott Suggs have a chance to become the rst Huskies to EVER make four NCAA Tournaments.

The PCC competed until 1958. In 1959, the Athletic Association of Western Universities was formed and, in 1968, became the Pacic-8 Conference. In 1978 two more schools were added and the current Pacic-10 Conference became reality. And, in 2011, Utah and Colorado joined the conference to form the Pac-12. Colorado and Utah joined the Pac-10 to form the Pac12. It marks the rst additions to the conference since Arizona and Arizona State joined the conference in 1978-79. As in previous years, the conference schedule is comprised of 18 games for each institution and will maintain the travel partner in a non-divisional format. The annual schedule will include games against an institutions traditional rival both home and away. In addition, each institution will play six other opponents both home and away (for two consecutive years), and four opponents on a single game basis - two at home and two away. The single-play opponents will rotate every two years. This year Washington misses Cal and Stanford in the Bay Area and will not host Utah and Colorado. UW Picked Fourth In Pac-12 Poll The Huskies were picked to nish fourth in the Pac-12 by a poll of media that cover the conference. Washington garnered 355 points. UCLA was selected as the rst-ever winner of the league by a very close margin. The Bruins received 14 rst-place votes and tallied 421 total points. Cal was close behind with 405 points and 13 rst-place nods. Arizona made it a three-team race by picking up 404 points and 11 rst-place votes. Last Year UW/Pac-10 Notes UW nished third in the Pac-10 for the second-consecutive season. The Huskies have nished third or better six times in Romars nine seasons. UW swept UCLA for just the third time ever (2006 and 1987) UW started 7-1 in the Pac-10 for the rst time since 1986. The Huskies started 4-0 in Pac-10 play for the rst time since 1984 when they jumped out of the gate 6-0. UW had its longest Pac-10 win streak since the conference formed in 1978 with 11-straight games dating back to the 2010 season, including three Pac-10 Tournament games.
