While he was working as the uncles employee for almost twenty, he got married uncles two daughters and their two women slaves. (Ex 1:17) The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live. LEVITICUS
1. What source was identified as having the most to do with Leviticus? According to the documentary hypothesis, much of Leviticus is identified as originating from the priestly source, P, which also runs through parts of several other books of the Torah. Strongly supportive of the Aaronic priesthood, Leviticus is nevertheless said to consist of several layers of accretion from earlier collections of laws. The Holiness Code is regarded as an independent document later combined with other sections into Leviticus as we have it today. The priestly source is envisioned as a rival version of the stories contained within JE, which in turn is a combination of two earlier sources, J and E. P is more concerned with religious law and ritual than either J or E. It is also generally more uplifting of the role of Aaron, while E-thought by some to have originated from the non-Aaronic riesthood at Shiloh-is overtly critical of Aaron. The Holiness Code is seen as being the law code that the priestly source presented as being dictated to Moses at Sinai, in place of the Covenant Code preserved in Exodus. On top of this, over time, different writers, of varying levels of narrative competence, ranging from repetitive tedium to case law, inserted various laws, inserted various laws, some from earlier independent collections. 2. How does the separation into clean and unclean animals work? (11:1-47) All the animals living on land that have a split hoof completely divided and that chews the cud are clean. Any animals that only chew the cud or only have a split hoof are unclean. Like the camel, rabbit and pig. 3. How is the Day of Atonement described? (23:26-32) The Lord said to Moses, The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves, and present an offering made to the Lord by fire. Do not work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the Lord your God. Anyone who does not deny himself on that day must be cut off from his people. I will destroy from among his people anyone who does any work on that day. You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. 32It is a Sabbath of rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your Sabbath. 4. How does the distinction between clean and unclean animals relate to creation?

OT Studies Final Exam ReviewerPage 7 The connection between the clean and unclean distinction, on the one hand, and the creation and fall, on the other, is reflected in the book of Leviticus by the repeated phrases you may eat and you shall not eat (Lev. 11:3,9,11,21,22) which, copan argues, echo the provision and prohibition to Adam and Eve in the garden (Gen. 2:16; 3:2). This connection arguably explains why predators and animals that had been preyed on were prohibited (Ex 22:31; Lev. 17:14) for, according to the Genesis narrative the original creation was non-carnivorous (Gen. 1:31). Even when humans were permitted to eat meat after the flood they had to first drain the blood out, for the blood was (and is?) considered sacred (Gen. 9:4). Hence, animals that prey on others and consume their blood are, to this degree, out of sync with Gods creational design. 5. Who could go into the Holy of Holies and when? (16:2) The Holy of Holies was entered once a year by the High Priest on the Day of Atonement, to offer the blood of sacrifice and incense before the mercy seat.

NUMBERS
1. Why is Moses not allowed to enter the land? First, Moses disobeyed a direct command from God. God had commanded Moses to speak to the rock. Instead, Moses struck the rock with his staff. Second, Moses took the credit for bringing forth the water. Notice how in verse 10 Moses said, Must we [referring to Moses and Aaron] bring you water out of this rock? Moses took credit for the miracle himself, instead of attributing it to God. Third, Moses did this in fromt of all the Israelites. Such a public example of direct disobedience could not go unpunished. Moses punishment was that he would not be allowed to enter the promised Land (Numbers 20:12). 2. What two of Jacobs sons are not included in the Twelve Tribes? And how are they replaced? Levi and Joseph are not included in the Twelve Tribes. Just before Jacob died, he pronounced benedictions and maledictions with predictions on the future to each of his sons. Judah was assigned the role of leader. Jacob predicted Zebulun would live by the coast. Three of the sons, Reuben (the first-born), Simeon and Levi were scolded; the last two for their massacre of the people of Shechem. Their sister Dinah had been raped by a man of Shechem and Simeon and Levi had exacted what they considered appropriate revenge. Reuben was criticized for sleeping with one of his fathers concubines. As punishment, Levi was not assigned a territory, but each of the other brothers was. This should mean 11 tribes, but Joseph received two portions (which should have been the right of the eldest legitimate son), one in the name of each of his sons, Ephraim and Manasseh.
