INSTALLING A REPORT PACK

From time to time, Veeam will release new and updated reports for Veeam Reporter. Templates for these reports are contained within report packs and installed separately. This independence gives you the flexibility to select and maintain the types and versions of the reports you create. Report packs are used by both the full version of Veeam Reporter and Veeam Reporter Free Edition, although not all report packs are available for Free Edition. If you want to install a supported report pack and you are running Free Edition version 4.0.1, you will need to first install a license key for the full version of Veeam Reporter. Installing a Temporary License with Veeam Reporter Free Edition provides instructions for obtaining and installing a license key. If you want to try a report pack that is not available for Free Edition, you can do so at no charge by installing a 30-day free trial license for the full version of Reporter. Installing a Trial License with Veeam Reporter Free Edition describes how to install this license. Please note that some features will be limited during your 30- day trial; see the Veeam Reporter User Guide for more information.

This document is a brief how-to guide that describes the process of installing a report pack in Veeam Reporter. This document does not provide information on installing and using Veeam Reporter and should be regarded as a supplement to existing product documentation. You can download the Veeam Reporter User Guide at http://www.veeam.com/vmware-esxreporter.html.

To install a report pack:

1. Download the report pack download package from the Reporter Download page on the Veeam web site, http://www.veeam.com/vmware-esx-reporter/download.html, or the Reporter Free Edition Download page on the Veeam web site, http://www.veeam.com/vmware-esx-reporter-free/download.html. Extract and save the report pack installation .zip file from the download package. Start Veeam Reporter. Click the Configuration link at the top right corner of the window. Open the Settings section and click the SSRS Server tab. Make sure the Use Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services checkbox is selected. Click the Test button to verify that your integration with the SSRS server is enabled and working. Click Browse at the bottom of the tab and select the report pack .zip file you saved in Step 2.

Click Install. Upon completion, the new report pack will be added to the Manage report packs list.

To begin working with the new reports, go to the Workspace area and select the new report pack from the Report pack drop-down.

INSTALLING A TEMPORARY LICENSE WITH VEEAM REPORTER FREE EDITION

A temporary trial license is included in the report pack download package. This zero-socket license is required for installation of the report pack in Reporter Free Edition. To return to your previous functionality after installation of the report pack is complete, you will need to replace the license with a Free Edition license.

Note:

These instructions are provided for users who are running Reporter Free Edition version 4.0.1. A temporary license is not needed to install report packs on Free Edition version 4.0.2 and later.

To install a license:
1. 2. 3. 4. Extract and save the license file from the report pack download package. Start Veeam Reporter. Click the Configuration link at the top right corner of the window and then click License on the left. Click the Browse button and select the license file you saved in step 1. Click the Install button.

Make sure the license is installed successfully and that its License Type is listed as Evaluation License. Install the report pack by performing the previously described steps in Installing a Report Pack. After you have installed the report pack, replace the temporary trial license with a Free Edition license. You can obtain a Free Edition license at http://www.veeam.com/reporter-free-key. Follow the same steps as above to install this license.

INSTALLING A TRIAL LICENSE WITH VEEAM REPORTER FREE EDITION

Installing a trial license for the full version of Reporter gives you access to report packs that are not available for Reporter Free Edition. After your 30-day trial expires, your Reporter installation will automatically revert to Free Edition. If you need assistance with obtaining a trial license, please contact your Veeam sales representative at http://www.veeam.com/salesinc.html.

To install a license:
1. 2. 3. Start Veeam Reporter. Click the Configuration link at the top right corner of the window and then click License on the left. Click the Browse button and select the trial license file and click the Install button.
