Dear Prayer Support Team:

Nov. 19, 2011

Very soon we will be celebrating Thanksgiving even though it is not a Chilean holiday. As we reflect on these past 3+ months since we wrote you last, we have much to thank God for. We are thankful that the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sins (1John 1:7), grants full forgiveness (Eph. 1:7), removes our sins from us as far as the east is from the west (Ps. 103:12), and remembers them no more (Heb. 10:17). And were thankful that He loves us enough that He keeps no record of wrongs to hold against us nor thinks evil of us (1Cor. 13:5,7), and allows His love to cover a multitude of sins (1Peter 4:8). Certainly we all have much to be thankful for. We are also thankful for the many opportunities we have had to serve Him and for the great things He is doing. This past semester Scott once again taught a Biblical Counseling course at our Bible Seminary with some 30 students. It is great to see these students now more committed than ever before to the sufficiency of Scripture. In August, Scott and Nikki traveled to Northern Chile to speak in a church and spend time with our missionaries serving there. In September Chile celebrated their Independence Day and it is always one of the biggest events on the annual calendar. Chile takes their Independence Day very seriously. In October, all our churches came together for a united Missions Conference with some 500 in attendance each night in the three day conference. Chileans were challenged with the prospect of giving their lives to global missions. In our church, Scott has preached a series on the doctrine of the local church, church discipline, and did a training seminar on evangelism and discipleship. While there have been a few issues we have had to deal with between a few quarelling members, there has been real spiritual growth and victory. It is good to see brethren come together, embrace, and ask each other for forgiveness. People are coming to Christ and being discipled and for this we give thanks. We continue to meet in a members home each Sunday, waiting for the city government to approve our move to the new building we are purchasing. It is currently hung up in red tape but we are told we should be able to move into our new building within the next three weeks. On a personal note, Samuel is a senior in high school now and his plans after graduation are to study Criminal Justice at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. When we return to the USA for furlough in April (read below), we will need to help him with his first car. If you know of anyone that has one to sell at a very affordable price, please let us know. Thanks! Scott recently had knee surgery and therefore had to cancel his plans to travel to Colombia to teach a module at their Bible Institute on biblical counseling. He was also going to preach in a Bible Conference in another church while there but that opportunity will have to wait for another time. We trust in our sovereign Lord and know He makes no mistakes. Other news: Our son Luke is engaged to be married to a fine young lady who loves the Lord. We are happy with his choice for a future life partner. They are planning an April wedding. Some very big plans: We are trying to work things out so that we can return to the USA for furlough the end of March. We are in need of housing and transportation for the first 3 months. If you can help us, please let us know. After the first 3 months, we will be living in Findlay, OH. at Scotts uncle and aunts residence. PRAISES: 1. God provided all the funds we needed through generous gifts from individuals and churches in the USA to be able to purchase chairs, sound equipment, and a pulpit. Thanks to those that gave! 2. Several Christmas gifts have been sent in and we are grateful for the help. With the poor dollar exchange rate, the gifts are especially helpful. Thank you! 3. Gods provision for our needs in spite of being under-supported at this time. 4. Great response to our missions conference. 5. Spiritual and numerical growth in our church.

PRAYER REQUESTS: 1. Our monthly support has fallen under. We are currently $341 under support per month. The reason is mainly due to one church that dropped all their missionaries due to financial hardships, and another church that informed us they preferred to support a camp ministry instead. If you would like to support us on a monthly basis you can set it up online by going to: http://www.abwe.org/give/commit-to-support-amissionary/ If you prefer to give a one-time gift, you can do so online by going to: http://www.abwe.org/give/online/

ABWEs Executive Administrator for Spanish Speaking South America (Bob Trout) was kind enough to come and preach in our church in late October. He was a great blessing to us and our church family. Notice how full our church fills this home on Sunday mornings. Our highest day so far has been about 60 people in this small living room.

Our future church building. We hope to move into this building within the next three weeks.

Celebrating Chiles Independence Day (Sept. 18) in our Sunday Services. Nikki dressed up more than Scott did for the special occasion. Scott needed an adult size hat.

Nikki with Ed Dunning (short term missionary teaching in our Christian School) holding empanadas on Chiles Independence Day. Empanadas are typical Chilean food especially enjoyed every year in September. They are a type of meat hot pocket.

Our church surprised Scott with a special birthday celebration after the Sunday services (Sept.) and Samuel is looking at the great big cake they were preparing to serve us.
