Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. ~ Colossians 2:6-7

Saying Goodbyes
Its never fun
Pray I close out my time here well by focusing on how others need to be served by me as I say farewell. Pray that as I say bye to what has become my home and the people who have become my family and closest friends, I would not be heartbroken but excited about what awaits my return stateside.

raise the Lord! After months of praying and planning as if there would be no full time interns on our campuses at UKZN the Lord has made His provision!

On the rst of October four of our students from the UKZN Westville campus (Bafana, Tha, Thandeka, and Sli) committed to giving one year of their life in serving the Lord in our ministry. It is a big decision for them, especially since graduating from college in this country tends to mean your family will now be looking to you for support. Many of these students are following Gods call in serving even though they know negative repercussions may come. However, they are excited about their decision and

even more excited to serve the Lord! It has been a real blessing to walk this journey with them as they hear the voice of the Lord and follow. They are now putting their faith in Him as they begin the journey of their next year. Pray for them as they start raising support and beginning their training. Anele has also made a commitment to now join sta with Cru. This means there are now ve people committing to serve here next year! The Lord has answered my prayer to not send me away from here without having nationals to take over the ministry!

My Future Plans
Still waiting
I am still waiting to hear what is next. Pray God makes it clear and that I will follow. Pray for a temporary job for when I return home, as well as a way to work out sharing a car with my little brother or the provision of a second one.

Future Interns
Support
Pray for our 4 new, South African, interns and 2 new staff as they get settled in and raise support for next year.

One Question
We united with other campus ministries and churches to spend a month asking students, If they could ask God one Question, what would they ask? We used grafti boards every day and personal conversations to ask. The culmination was a big event in the quad where we answered the question of, Who is Jesus? It was wonderful. We had a great turn out, great conversations, and many students who claimed their righteousness in Christ deciding to follow Him as their Lord and Savior.

A few special stories

Aya
A Man With Passion Free Coffee
With the help of several groups and churches around the community we were able to pass out free coffee two times during the month. We passed out over 600 cups of coffee. Students were provided with a beverage as well as a place to sit and chat with our students about life. Many great conversations and many of our Cru students learned to talk about their faith with others for the rst time.

Im All Ears
We set two chairs out in the middle of campus twice a week. One of our students would sit in the chair and listen to anything that someone wanted to say. We talked about everything from food to girlfriend troubles to Christ. This also gave our students an easy opportunity to be asked about their faith in Christ.

Community Outreach
We reached out through service this month as well. We were invited to Chatsworth to help at a soup kitchen and clothing drive. We collected clothes on campus throughout August and passed them out to those in the community who were in need of some help. Then we were able to help distributed Briyani for lunch, and play with all of the children who were there as well.

Aya is a student who I rst met last year in September. Shortly there after he was appointed as out outreach team leader for this year. Back in March we were talking about a vision I had to try to unite our campus and reach 10,000 students. Aya took ownership of that vision and immediately began contacting pastors and leaders trying to organize times to meet and discuss this plan. He set up meetings, found us venues, helped me plan events, organized resources and anything else that logistically went into the month he was on top of. Not only did his passion work itself out through logistics but also in his sharing. He shared his faith with others fervently each day. He took time to reach out to 1 or two guys very intentionally meeting to discuss their every question about Christianity, and He shared with them exactly what God put on his heart. I am so proud of how he showed his passion this month. He also found a way to send an announcement to every student on all 5 campuses of UKZN with a link to a special Gospel presentation. He is now going to be our President next year at Westville and I am excited to see how God uses him, and his passion to make this outreach an annual thing.

What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

Noni
The New Recruit
Noni has been discipled all year by a woman who I have been discipling name Thembalethu. I didnt really know her that well until recently. She showed up on August 1st to sit and help with our couch talks outreach. I thought she was from a This semester Cru did a 14-week different organization until she began study of 2 Timothy and how Paul speaking about Cru. She was excited to discharges his ministry to Timothy nally put what she was learning into action telling him what is important and and sat to share her about her faith for the what he should focus on. The rst time. She was bold and continued to application is that the students do it all throughout the month. Now she will remember these words now as be leading her bible study next year and we have discharged our ministry beginning to disciple other students as she to them. grows.

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless Christ died for the ungodly.

amp this semester was themed as a Survivor Camp. We went a way to Mpumelelos Gogos (Grandmas) house a few hours north from Durban. We did camp a little dierently this time and we spent the weekend roughing it. Boys in one room, girls in the other. 50 people, 2 portapotties. It made for a very fun and dierent experience. We had a Pastor come in from the area and teach us for the weekend. He spoke about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That God loves us, but because of Adams disobedience we have all fallen into a nature of disobeying Him. However, to rectify this God came down as Jesus to live a perfect life, die on the cross, and resurrect after three days in order to give His life to us through our belief in Him. However, the Gospel doesnt stop there. We then spoke about our call as disciples to simply love Jesus because he loves us. The call to discipleship is a call to live for Christ, to share what He has done and that we can do nothing to get closer to God, except trust that by the Grace given though Jesus death we are made Holy. Closing social Our closing function this year was amazing. The students put

Our closing social was themed as Old School. A time to dress up in your old high school uniform or as someone from the 80s. We had a great time celebrating many memories we had formed this year, such as our Spring Survivor Camp, also pictured here.

together a themed party where we had to dress up in an old school uniform or in 80s clothing. They then decorated a venue and welcomed us in with many special things they had planned. We sat while they served us lunch, spoke kind words, gave testimonies, sang songs they wrote for us, and gave us

superlatives. I was given the George of the Jungle Award for all of my knowledge about the African animals and my passion for game driving (safaris). It was a fun way to end our year and reminisce with our students about all God has done.

International Softball
I had the privilege of joining my friend Abby in coaching her high school softball team this semester. Spending time with these girls quickly became my favorite thing to do each week. Softball is much different here in South Africa, because everyone grows up playing soccer, rugby, or eld hockey instead. We had to start with the basics (force outs, base running, tagging up, etc.) and work our way up. The girls caught on quick, but winning was not what was important to me. What I loved about it was being able to spend time building relationships with these young ladies. I still speak to one of the girls, Kaylee, via Facebook quite regularly. God used this time to remind me of my passion for youth and rejuvenate my spirit as I was able to serve while doing two things I love very much! Not only was I able to coach softball but also to play. I joined Abby on her city league team earlier this month. We play twice a week and I have become the starting pitcher. Even though I dont pitch! I keep telling them that but nobody listens. We are doing quite well, despite my pitching. This has been a great way to make some new friends.

This is my group of high schoolers who stole a little piece of my heart this year. We practiced on Mondays and Wednesday and played on Saturdays. They may not have won very much but we did make sure we had a good time playing, and they learned more as we went on.

God made him, who had no sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

ighteoussness. It is such a little word that has come to mean so much to me. This past month I was challenged to seek what it truly meant to be righteous in Christ. I speak on this topic often, but I do not think I truly believed it for myself. I was challenged to look at Gods abundant grace and what that means in my life. That in the Gospel we may not speak of the law anymore because Jesus died so that it would disappear. Therefore our faith has nothing to do with actions, but rather love and belief. This had not penetrated my heart until just recently. So often I would feel a need to be perfect, and to obey. I would feel guilty and sinful when I messed up because I failed to keep Gods law now that I was His. God hit me hard with a reminder that this all has nothing to do

with me but everything to do with Him. Jesus is not only our punishment bearer, which is easy to believe, but he is also our law keeper. He has kept the law on my behalf and that is what God sees for my life no matter what as long as I place my trust in that promise. Gods grace is abundant and uncomprehendable. He is so good to love someone like me! otswana! Im o right B to spend 10 days there now actually with 9 of our students. This is one of the rst trips students from South Africa have been sent on in several years. Our students have already been impacted so much because of it! Pray for our time as we go on campus and in the community to serve and share the love of Jesus. Students here always receive missionaries but are rarely sent. Now

they are being sent and oh how glorious it will be when this penetrates the hearts of the churches in South Africa.

We were able to take one last trip down to Oribi Gorge and experience the beauty God created in that place.

Pray for Ukukhanya. Penny is still raising support for the OVC camp we did in July. There are also many things that need to be sorted out with the center itself. Pray that the complications that continue to arise would be resolved and that the community would come behind the center and support them fully in what they are doing.
