COURSE DESCRIPTION: This syllabus has been specially-designed to train students become effective, confident and competent speakers by exposing them to the correct principles of effective oral communication such as voice diction, vocal techniques as well platform behavior. Likewise, the course includes research as pertinent tool in preparation of speeches and scripts and instructions on the use of multimedia to aid presentation. 5. OBJECTIVES At the end of the course, the students should be able to: COGNITIVE a. employ the right words, expressions, oral skills and speech outlines appropriate to the situation and goals of the oral presentation; b. classify and employ effectively the different techniques in effectively the different industrial or professional arenas; c. prepare multimedia materials to help in the presentation, d. create original speech manuscripts AFFECTIVE a. develop sincere appreciation of effective oral communication in promoting human relations; b. discover ones limitations and voluntarily seek corrections; c. manifest discipline and proper decorum in delivering speeches or talks; PSYCHOMOTOR a. correctly enunciate the words in speech samples b. accurately transcribe the sounds using the correct IPA symbols c. create neat and organized outlines of individual speeches d. use technology to access resourcesto make a dynamic speech e. manipulate the computer and other audio devices for listening and speaking exercises 6.
