THE POTENCY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

TEXT: MATTHEW 7:1-END 1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. 6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? 10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? 12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. 28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: 29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. References: 1... John 10:8 All that ever came before me were thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 2...Revelation 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee because thou hast left thy first love. LOOK AND PONDER: Brethren, I want to begin this lecture with a poser. When you are told to, Ask, and it shall be given you, seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you! (Matthew7:7) What do you understand by that statement? What are you seeking for and what are you knocking for? The people of the world request for food, money, and

material wealth from God, and I wonder whether that is what you are told to ask for. THE GIFT OF GOD IS THE HOLY SPIRIT; AND THAT IS WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO ASK FOR. Therefore whoever does not possess the Holy Spirit is in a very serious problem. HEED GODS INSTRUCTIONS: It is unfortunate that in spite of the above reference the entire world is still seeking after the material wealth of this world, which avails them nothing. But I want you to know that the Holy Spirit is potent enough to protect, direct and control all your activities on earth if you allow Him to indwell you. On the other hand if you do not possess the Holy Spirit, your prayers, your words, your movements, and all your local means of protection will be rendered useless. And even if you fast, pray, and attend church service everyday, it will avail you nothing without the Holy Spirit. IT IS THROUGH THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT THAT YOU HAVE BEEN INVITED IN HERE. WITH THIS MEDIUM, YOU ARE BEING SHOWERED WITH USEFUL ATTRIBUTES: LOVE, JOY, PEACE, HUMILITY, TOLERANCE, MEEKNESS, ETC. THAT IS THE MAIN REASON THAT YOU ARE ASKED TO ENDEAVOR TO POSSESS THE HOLY SPIRIT IN YOU. Do not at any time seek for any other thing whatsoever. All your carnal desires are all secondary, so seek after the Holy Spirit because it is the Holy Spirit who will overcome everything for you. WHICH MAN CAN FACE THE HOLY SPIRIT: Remember what the Jews did to the disciples of Our Lord Jesus Christ.. They warned them not to preach in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and how the disciples

persistently proclaimed the Lords Name.(Acts 4:16-32). They were able to do this because they were endowed with the Holy Spirit which they sought for earnestly. And through the power of the Holy Spirit they were able to preach and cause mountains to fall, demons were cast out, and they openly proclaimed the glory and power of the Lord. With the transcendental power of the Holy Spirit in us, we can accomplish everything, even that which is not expected of us. But we would be unable to accomplish anything without the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit. Hence, Our Lord Jesus Christ teaches us, as recorded in Philipians 4:10-13 "But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity. Not that I speak in respect of want, for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. SO IT SHOULD BE KNOWN TO YOU THAT WITHOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT STRENGTHENING YOU, YOU CAN DO NOTHING ON YOUR OWN. NO MATTER THE LENGTH OF PRAYERS, THE EXTENT TO WHICH YOU CAN DREAM DREAMS, AND WHATSOEVER ELSE YOU CAN SEEMINGLY DO, YOU ARE MERELY WASTING YOUR TIME.

DO NOT DEPEND ON BLIND POWERS: People do seek for powers from different vague means in the world, yet how safe are they? WITHOUT YOU DULY RECOGNIZING THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND REVERING HIM, YOU

CANNOT DO ANYTHING ON YOUR OWN VOLITION. HENCE IT IS STATED, ASK AND YE SHALL BE GIVEN, SEEK AND YE SHALL FIND, KNOCK AND IT SHALL BE OPENED UNTO YOU.(MATTHEW 7:7). ASK FOR NO OTHER THING THAN THE HOLY SPIRIT, WHILE GOING ABOUT FASTING AND PRAYING. While proclaiming the Lords Name, and while embarking upon other practices, behold, without the Holy Spirit in you, all your deeds would yield no useful fruits for you. Therefore seek for the Holy Spirit, for once the power of the Holy Spirit is in you, it will supersede all other powers. NO MATTER THE SIZE AND POWER OF THE DEMON, IT CANNOT OVERWHELM YOU. IT IS ONLY THE HOLY SPIRIT IN YOU WHICH CAN STRENGTHEN AND EFFECTIVELY SUPPLY YOU WITH POWER WHILE IN PRAYERS, FASTING, HEALING, AND OTHER SPIRITUAL WORKS. It is in accordance with this that we are advised to be led by the Spirit as it is recorded in Romans 8:13-14 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

THE HOLY SPIRIT MUST LEAD FOR YOU TO FOLLOW: Let me explain the above passage by asking this question: Can anyone go to the stream to fetch some water without any container with which to hold the water? If so, how then will the one manage to carry the water to his house? Therefore, your problems stem from your belief that you can do anything on your own without the power of the Holy Spirit in you. Admit the Holy Spirit into your body, your

house, your job, and every other aspect of your life, for He is the only one who is capable of overcoming all difficulties for you. BROTHERHOOD OF THE CROSS AND STAR IS A UNIQUE INSTITUTION: This very kingdom of God cannot manifest among the governments, organizations, and various institutions of the world because the people there lack the Holy Spirit. BUT SINCE WE HAVE RECEIVED AND APPRECIATE THE HOLY SPIRIT, WE CAN NOW BOAST IN HIM. FURTHERMORE, WE WISH THAT MORE ABILITY SHOULD BE GIVEN TO US TO CARRY OUT HIS INJUNCTIONS AT ALL TIMES. WHEN WE HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT WE SHALL HAVE ACQUIRED THE PERFECT POWER OF HEALING, PRAYING, PREACHING, AND PROCLAIMING HIS MIGHTY WORKS. If the Holy Spirit helps us to carry out these spiritual assignments successfully, God will be glorified; and we will be blessed abundantly. Refer to what is written in 1 Corinthians 12:1-3. Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led . Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man, speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed and that no man can call Jesus the Lord but by the Holy Spirit. Therefore you can see that the Holy Spirit is the ultimate thing for any child of God to seek for and possess because as the above passage has stated, without the Holy Spirit nothing can be accomplished. YOU MAY PERISH WITH THEM:

Do not lay your hopes or faith on the millions of naira which you have, or the number of cars, mansions, children, or even your family, for all these belonging shall lead you to destruction. Instead, let all your hopes, faith and beliefs be on the Holy Spirit at all times. Call upon Him when necessary. Discuss with Him, and make Him your companion in everything you do. The Holy Spirit is the only one who can cater for all your needs. After this you will be able to overcome all your difficulties.

Let us make our reference from the Acts of the Apostles 2:112 1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. 6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. 7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? 8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, 10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. 12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? LET THE HOLY SPIRIT BE EVERYTHING FOR YOU:

Whenever you are afflicted, convicted, or faced with any difficulty, invite the Holy Spirit as your helper, and you will experience the power of the Holy Spirit operating in you automatically. You must never fail to request the gift of the Holy Spirit in your prayers. Ask, and always seek diligently for the Holy Spirit; for the Holy Spirit is the Almighty God. He is the one who teaches, controls, directs, guides and protects all of us.
THE BLESSED DEPARTURE: Even when Our Lord Jesus Christ was on earth, He did not perform the kind of wonder that He performed on the day of Pentecost. And this explains why He says in John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And immediately after He has ascended, the Holy Spirit

descended according to His promise. AND IN REALITY, HE IS THE ONE WHO DOES EVERYTHING NOW. HE IS THE ONE CURRENTLY TEACHING, REVEALING ALL SECRETS AND CONSCIOUSLY TAKING US TO THE ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH. THEREFORE IT IS WISE TO POSSESS THE HOLY SPIRIT. Treasure Him and always consult Him before undertaking any venture. Invariably, it is very unreasonable for some of us to think that we can do anything through our own will or power. From now on, we know that nobody does anything on His own will except through the power of the Holy Spirit. Hence Our Lord Jesus Christ had this to say in John 15:1-7 I am the true vine, and my Father the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the words which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me and I in you, As the branch cannot bearv fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye , except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them and cast them into the fire, and they are burned . If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. HE WHO SEEKETH FINDETH: From the above proclamation, it should be known to you that if you do not seek for the Holy Spirit, He can never come to you. If you do not ask for the Holy Spirit; and you do not knock and call for the Holy Spirit, you can never see

Him; and neither can He open the gate for you. Hence, the spiritual song given thus: Seek ye and ask for your desires, and the Lord shall prove His truth for you.

Fortunately, you can sit down quietly in your house and seek for the Holy Spirit, stay quietly in your house and ask sincerely, knock seriously and all your demands will automatically be met before you know it. He is ever ready to do everything unto you; for nothing is too much or too hard for Him to handle on your behalf. BUT WITHOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT
IN YOU, YOU CANNOT DO ANYTHING SUCCESSFULLY, IRRESPECTIVE OF THE MILLIONS OF NAIRA IN YOUR HOUSE. Henceforth, stop requesting for money, vehicles, mansions, children, wife, or husband, from God. Go all out and seek for the Holy Spirit only. Give the Holy Spirit a chance because it is said that when the battle becomes too fierce, then the Lord will move by Himself. Once He descends into you, your lifestyle will be improved, and your life span lengthened, and you will excel overwhelmingly with joy in all your undertakings. THERE IS THE NEED TO TRY: Just as it is stated that if ye abide in me, and I in you, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing, call the Holy Spirit into your business, your job and all other activities you may be involved in. Our reference is from Luke 24:40-45 And when he had spoken, he shewed them His hands, and His feet. And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, have ye there any meat? And they gave him a piece of broiled fish and honeycomb. And he

took it, and did eat before them. And He said unto them, these are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms concerning me. Then opened He their understanding that they might understand the scriptures.
FOR ANYONE WHO SHALL PRAY IN ORDER TO HEAL THE SICK, CAST OUT DEMONS, SUBDUE THE POWERS AND PRINCIPALITIES, RAISE THE DEAD, SPEAK IN TONGUES AND ACHIEVE OTHER WONDERFUL WORKS, IT SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE IF THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IS NOT THERE.

And all their labor and endeavors shall be in vain and shall remain valueless because they are controlled by the flesh. YOUR KEY TO SUCCESS: You are warned today not to harbor anybody in your heart. Do not make any concoction. Do not fornicate, and do not commit vices in general. But rather get yourself involved in one act of righteousness or the other; and by so doing your prayers and request will be granted, and all your problems solved. IN ALL YOUR CONSCIOUS DELIBERATIONS, SEEK FOR DIVINE GUIDANCE FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO ANYTHING WITHOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT, BECAUSE WITHOUT THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, YOU CAN ACHIEVE NOTHING USEFUL. Therefore Brethren, it is said that a stroke of the cane is sufficient unto a wise man. Let him who has ears hear what the Holy Spirit says unto the churches.
