2011 Global Missions Conference at FBA
A heart for God, a vision for the world
Our annual Missions Conference has always been one of my favorite events at First Bap:st Atlanta. I love ge?ng to know the missionaries, spending :me with them, ea:ng required sta lunches with them, hearing about whats going on in the eld, how I can pray for them. Its great hearing how God is working all over the world, isnt it? This year I was honored to be one of the missionaries for the rst :me! I got to be encouraged, be prayed over, let wiser and more experienced missionaries pour into me a liNle, make new friends. I also got the opportunity to set up a display table for myself and Wyclie. I got to share with my fellow church members all about who Wyclie is, what we do, and why we do it. I got to tell them what Ill be doing in Papua New Guinea and ask for prayer and nancial support.

How you can pray

Praise the Lord that I am at 96.2% of my monthly budget needs! Pray for 100% by the end of November. Upcoming speaking opportunity: 11.27 Amity Baptist Church, Iron Station, NC Pray for the work visa process, as its very slow moving (at least by my standards!). But all in Gods timing... Pray for wisdom in knowing what to buy and pack for living in PNG for four years.

Then my favorite part of the week is always the Shower of Love. The ladies of the church put this together to pamper all the missionary ladies. We have a delicious meal served to us by some of the men of the church. Theres always a fantas:c speaker that encourages and exhorts all of us. And the most special part is that each of us has a host at our table, who invites other ladies who she knows would be pray-ers and encouragers for their missionary. I was so blessed during my very rst Shower of Love as a missionary. These ladies loved on me, prayed for me, encouraged me. And my mom even got to come down to be a part of it and spend a couple days with me! At the end of the week, I had the opportunity to speak in a Sunday School class, and I was assigned to my old class! I had the whole hour to myself and was so nervous. But I loved it! I really hope that I dont have to wait 5 years to aNend the conference again. Thats such a long :me!

I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelaAon, so that you may know Him beCer. -Ephesians 1:16-17 I am always so thankful for all of you who have commi5ed to come alongside me in my adventure. But Im also thankful for the work Hes doing through you in the ministry Hes given you in your local church, your work place, your family, etc. And I do pray o?en for each of you, that as you seek Him He will reveal Himself, ll you with wisdom, and as the next few verses say, that youll know the hope you have in Him and the power you have that comes from Him. The last several weeks have been pre5y busy! I got to spend a week at home with my parents in October. We went to the Cleveland County Fair, I learned how to sew and sewed two skirts, I had a few speaking engagements to talk about Wyclie, and hung out with my nephew a li5le. Liberty Universitys Homecoming was at the end of that week. I got to stay with my sister and hang out with a few of my friends who sLll live in Lynchburg. My brother and sister-in- law also came up; we went to the football game on Saturday. Its so crazy to see how much the campus has changed. There are over twice as many students as when I graduated. And theyre making everything newer and more high-tech! In October, two of my dear friends had babies! Joy had her fourth, Jackson. Christen had her rst, Charis. They are precious and I love holding them. A?er the missions conference, I had all of my wisdom teeth removed! It wasnt nearly as traumaLc as most people told me it would be. The worse thing was not being able to drive because of my awesome pain medicaLon! The next several weeks are looking to be even busier than the last. Ill be home over a week for Thanksgiving, I have a lot of paperwork and packing to get done, and then itll be Christmas before we know it! I pray that you enjoy this holiday season with your friends and family.
