Copyright 2010 EMC Corporation. Do not Copy -All Rights Reserved. UNIX environment for Hurricane Marine LTD Hurricane Marine s UNIX network is supported by one NIS master server. That server s host name is nis-master. Your instructor will play the role of the administrator and will hol d the password to nismaster confidential. You will be logging into your UNIX workstations as various NIS use rs, as well as integrating the Celerra with NIS. Copyright 2010 EMC Corporation. Do not Copy -All Rights Reserved. Microsoft Windows Network for Hurricane Marine, LTD The Microsoft Windows network is comprised of two domains. The hmarine.com domai n is the root of the forest, while corp.hmarine.com is a subdomain of the root. While the root do main is present solely for administrative purposes at this time, corp.hmarine.com holds containers for all users, groups, and computer accounts. Overview -7

Network configuration for Hurricane Marine, LTD Some important features of Hurricane Marine s network are as follows: The work performed by different employees presents different needs. For example, while the sales staff all use Microsoft Windows applications, the engineering group requires UNI X workstations. The security for these two environments are managed separately. The UNIX network uses NIS to manage security. On the other hand, the Microsoft network is using a Windows (Na tive Mode) network for security. Hurricane Marine s network is currently divided into five networks connected by a router, for security reasons. DNS has been implemented at this site for host name resolution.
