Course Description/ Outline


The aim of course is to give basic knowledge about computer, its hardware and software
and operating system. This course will able the students to work with window operating
system ,Ms office utilities (Ms Office ,Ms power point, excel).It also familiarize with the
use of internet and e mail etc.
Course Objectives:

By the end of this course the students will able to:

• Discuss computer skills ,application and how it effects on midwifery practice


• Demonstrate skills in the use of a word processor(Microsoft word),spread
sheet/database(Microsoft Excel)
• Demonstrate Skills in preparing material for presentation by slide ,overhead or
computer projection(Multimedia) using presentation software (power point)
• Demonstrate skills in assessing in national and international network, search engines,
and database using virtual private network.
• Verbalize understanding of internet and its use, values ad efficacy in communicating
midwifery knowledge.
• Identify use of computer in our own areas of midwifery practice
• Illustrate the effective use of computer and its software in midwifery where necessary
