Advent Some people need lists in order to accomplish all they need to do. Others manage quite happily without them. Either way, the next few weeks will be filled with things we have to do so that Advent passes us by. Advent is a season in its own right, with a sense of waiting, expecting, preparing. Before we all get too carried away then, let us add to our list ; Time put aside to reflect what it is all for - the coming of Christ. The following are some ways to help us do this : i) There will be an additional daily Mass at 7.30am, particularly for those who are working. ii) Confessions on Saturdays are between 11-12noon at Our Ladys and 5.15-5.45 at St Wilfrids. There will also be a Service of Reconciliation at Our Ladys on Wed 14 December at 7pm. This is an important time for us to prepare - please do not leave it till the last minute. iii) There will be an Advent Workshop for our young people from Year 6 upwards next Sunday evening at 5pm in the Parish Centre, followed by evening Mass. iv) Walk With Me booklets with daily Advent reflections are available at the back of church. Please take one. Order of Mass : The new Order of Mass is used fully from this weekend onwards. You will notice a change in the prayers of the Mass. Scouts : The 1st Ashton Scout Group are hosting a Brunch at St Thomas Church Hall, Ashton on Saturday 3 December between 11am - 1pm. All are welcome. Feast of the Immaculate Conception : Our Parish Feast Day is on Thursday 8th December. Mass will be at 9.15am (with the children from school) and at 7pm. After the evening Mass, the new Nazareth Room in the Parish Centre will be blessed, after which there will be a Social Evening. Please do join us on this occasion. Many Thanks. What good things might God be asking you to do right now? How do you know when you are following Christ and living his teaching faithfully? Your Parish Priest: Fr. John Gorman
