First Saturday Devotions to the Immaculate Heart of Mary In the Church, Saturday has traditionally been regarded as a special day of devotion to Our Lady - Lady Day - the day which prepares us for the day of the Lord, as Mary prepared us to receive the Lord in the Incarnation. Since the time of Our Ladys apparitions at Fatima, the first Saturday of every month has been dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary as a means of reparation for those sins which offend her Immaculate Heart. Beginning next Saturday (5th Nov) 1st Saturday Devotions will take place here at Our Ladys. This will begin with Mass at 10am followed by the Rosary (10.30am), Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Confessions (11-12noon), the Angelus (mid-day) and concluding with a Procession and Act of Consecration. Tea and coffee will be served afterwards. All are welcome. Catenian Association : The Catenians are an association of Catholic laymen whose aim is to promote the spiritual and social well-being of its members and their families, and who seek to assist young Catholics in their choice of a career and vocations to the priesthood and religious life. A member of the Association will speak at the end of Mass this weekend. Feast of All Saints : Tuesday is the feast of All Saints and is a Holyday of Obligation. Mass in the morning will be at 10am at St Wilfrids with Mass in the evening at Our Ladys at 7pm (Mass in St Oswalds will be at 12 noon and 7.00pm). We would do well to remember that Halloween takes its name from the Eve of All Hallows (Saints) and has been taken over by those who wish to emphasise what is dark and corrupt in our world, which is contrary to the Christian virtue seen in the lives of the saints. Please remember that Trick or Treat can be a time of great fear and anxiety for the elderly and those who live alone. Month of the Holy Souls : Throughout November we remember especially those Faithful Departed of our families and parish who have given us an example of faith and, we pray, have gone to their heavenly reward. Pious List envelopes are available for names to be placed on the altar and remembered at Mass during this month. On Wednesday of this week (All Souls Day) Mass will be at 9am in Our Ladys and at 7pm at St Wilfrids. Last weeks Collection ; Gift Aid : 215.40 Loose Plate : 178.75 Total : 394.15 Many Thanks. Question of the Week : Jesus says :Do whatever they teach you and follow it; but do not do as they do, for they do not practice what they teach. Is there an area of your life in which you sometimes feel like a hypocrite? Why

is it important to live according to how you believe?
