Prerequisites
This being a Compulsory Iull credit course in the third trimester, all participants would have had
an exposure to the subjects oI Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Operations and
Organization Behaviour, in the Iirst and second trimesters. They would use this knowledge Ior
entrepreneurship.
Course learning objectives
The course learning objectives would be maniIold, participants would be able to,
1. ncrease awareness about concepts related to entrepreneurship
2. Generate new ideas Ior business
3. Learn to evaluate the opportunities identiIied
4. Understand diIIerent business models in new venture creation
5. Learn to write a business plan
6. Understand the role oI innovations in entrepreneurial organizations
Pedagogy
The pedagogy would involve use oI case studies, class activities and other readings to make the
course experiential in nature.
Course weight age
This is a Iull credit course Ior 100 marks; which will be covered in 20 sessions oI 80 minutes
each.

Pre course
Students would be required to pick up, available cases & readings in the soIt copy Iormat Irom
the subject representative.
Cases
Thirteen cases will be dealt with in the class, which need to be read prior to coming to class.
Students who do not read the case will not be permitted to participate nor will they be
given attendance. Case preparation questions will be sent to you in advance wherever applicable
in the soIt copy Iormat.
Class participation:
Class attendance is mandatory Ior the twenty sessions. Students are requested to read the
assigned course material before coming to the session in order to actively engage in all
classroom activities or they will not be allowed to participate in the session. The endeavor is to
bring Iresh insights and innovative ideas to the session
Business plan
Preparation oI a Business plan will provide an exposure oI what it takes to convert an idea into a
successIul business venture. Venture teams would need to be Iormed Ior the business plan
presentation. The business plan could be a continuation oI the new product launch that the
students have done as part oI a marketing assignment previously though the aim here will be to
have the same Iunded Ior a start-up.
The business plan,
1. ill be evaluated on the basis oI the ideas novelty, expression, technical, Iinancial, market
Ieasibility and team strengths
2. Groups oI 4 members each are required to, give their group number & name to the subject
representative by the 4th session as per the attendance sheet.
3. ill need to be presented Ior 10 minutes with a 3 minute Q & A to the class in the 18th, 19
th

& 20
th
session, all students are expected to be present Ior all the business plan presentations
as the order oI presentations will be randomized.
4. ill include, a brieI description oI the idea, opportunity identiIied with the 7 domain,
Porter`s Iive Iorces, criticality matrix and its potential, estimation oI market size, segments
targeted, entry strategy, operational requirements to implement idea, summary oI capital
expenditure and Iinancial projections.
5. ill be submitted as both a soIt copy and a hard copy word doc to the subject representative

Entrepreneurial case
ocumenting an entrepreneurial case will help understand the liIe story oI an entrepreneur and
the challenges Iaced by entrepreneurs.
1. Select an entrepreneur Irom your acquaintance Irom any oI the Iollowing mentioned
below,
O ndustry - Clean technology, real estate, telecom, education, T, media, and entertainment
amongst others
O Types oI entrepreneurs Franchisee, group, woman, social, niche venture, serial,
propagator or hustle
O Stages oI growth - ncubatee current or in the past, seed Iunded
2. Collect data and inIormation by interviewing the entrepreneur, visiting his/ her
workplace, talking to other stakeholders such as customers, employees, etc.
3. Find out about his / her Iamily, social, educational background, how the business idea
was generated, startup strategies, Iinances, main hurdles in setting up the business, how
did he / she manage to pull out resources?
4. Contribution in terms oI innovations, services, new products, new market, alignment oI
diIIerent ideas to the customer, employees, society amongst others
5. One major challenge Iaced in the last one year, how s/he resolved it and the decision
taken
6. Areas could be, Marketing, operations, HR, Iinance & T, leadership, succession
planning, networking amongst others
7. t could be a maximum oI 20 pages including exhibits, it will be submitted as a word doc
