The Institute teaches the Sanskrit Language at six levels -First junior, Second junior, First senior, Second senior, Diploma I and Diploma II. The duration of each level is three months. For details regarding admissions, please visit Admissions section. Sanskrit is the divine speech set forth by the Great Sages. "Sanskrit and prestige go together in India Ideas must be taught in the language of the people; at the same time, Sanskrit education must go on along with it, because the very sound of Sanskrit words gives a prestige and a power and a strength to the race." - Swami Vivekananda. "The Sanskrit language, whatever be its antiquity, is of wonderful structure; more perfect than the Greek, more copious than the Latin, and more exquisitely refined than either; yet, bearing to both of them a stronger affinity, both in the roots of verbs and in the forms of grammar, than could possibly have been produced by accident; so strong indeed that no philosopher could examine all three without believing them to have sprung from some common source which perhaps, no longer exists". - Sir William Jones. Many people nowadays are interested to read and understand the sublime ideas and values found in our Sanskrit scriptures and literature. The traditional method of learning Sanskrit involves a lot of memorization of usages and grammatical rules of the language. However, people in general do not have the time and patience required to learn Sanskrit through this rigorous process. Therefore, we have adopted the functional method of teaching/learning Sanskrit, based on modern interactive techniques of teaching and learning. In the beginning, the method develops the skills of listening, speaking reading and writing directly through use of interesting passages, stories, dialogues, shlokas, hymns and verses from the Bhagavad Gita etc. It tries to make the subject learner friendly by reducing the grammar technicalities. At the higher levels of the course, various aspects of the Indian philosophy and poetry and prose selections from Sanskrit literature are introduced to enable the students to read and understand them on their own. Efforts are being made to awaken and intensify the desire to learn and use the Sanskrit language and thus have access to the sublime and lofty teachings of scriptures through this divine language.
