As my second to last semester at ASU comes to a close, I find that my choice of courses has led me to a position where I completely understand the actions I have to take in order to land the career I dream of. One such class that has aided me is TWC 301 Multimedia Writing. In my path to become an Interior Architect, few skills are more valuable than presentation skills and creativity. This class has helped me to better represent my own understanding of rhetorical knowledge, and how to incorporate multimedia elements into the presentation of that knowledge. It has been a very good touch up on my use of design principles in my writing. I also gained more experience in the presentation of information in easy to understand, aesthetically pleasing media deliveries. Now its clear to see how crucial these traits will be in job applications and future client negotiations.

Graduation from ASU brings a new challenge in the form of I need a J. O. B., where to start...!?! Out of the incredibly many positions open to a new graduate, fact is, I cant get a position in Interior Architecture until I am certified. So how then should I gain experience? To start, I will sacrifice my summer to the greater good and go to Texas to work as an Advertising Director. For three months, I will knock on doors advertising home security systems like I did three years ago. Its good money and even another chance to further develop my presentation skills. After the summer, I will search for a design position at an Architectural firm while I develop my portfolio in the realm of Interior Architecture.

After getting hired at an Architectural and Interior Design firm in Philadelphia, I gained much more experience in the sector of LEED qualification and building construction techniques. When this is combined with my talents portrayed in my portfolio, I am quickly accepted into the Interior Architect Graduate program at Drexel University. This last stretch into the spring will be my preparation financially and mentally for the trials and errors of grad school. I start the program in June and must continue to research different areas of Sustainable Interior Architecture in effort to determine what I would like to choose for my thesis. Fortunately enough, I have a pretty good idea of what I would like to advance but it is a complicated sector and I must collaborate with engineers to accomplish LEED certification and future program requirements. The fact that this sector is expanding with every new project means that I have to determine my long term career goals as an Interior Architect.

After a year of intense study and collaboration, I now prepare for my summer internship with an architectural company that focuses on advancements in the area of Sustainable Development. I will learn the ins and outs to the design of systems that function between interior and exterior to regulate temperatures, produce energy, and efficiently operate architectural spaces of the future. This experience is a prime opportunity for me to improve my designs from the evolution of sustainable technologies. The knowledge I value most is what I learn about Net-Zero Energy systems in buildings ranging from residential to large commercial projects.

My last days of grad school were great. The culmination of my experiences has now rocketed me into the career of my dreams. Now its about that time to pay off some student loans (cough, cough). As soon as I graduate, I have multiple companies competing for my enlistment. I have assembled an outstanding portfolio of works that demonstrate my talent in the field of sustainable healing environment design. My research into the psychological aspects that forms, shapes, colors, and textures have on our physiology has led me to a position where I am capable of designing aspects of the built environment to facilitate better human interactions.
