CSCMP Elects Officers, Appoints Chairs to 2008-2009 Board of Directors
Lombard, Illinois USA (October 7, 2008)—Members of the Council of Supply Chain
Management Professionals (CSCMP) elected officers and appointed chairs to its 2008-2009 Board of Directors during the association’s annual business meeting held today. The meeting was held in conjunction with CSCMP’s 2008 Annual Global Conference in Denver, Colorado. Roger W. Woody, supply chain strategy for EMBARQ Logistics and CSCMP member for over 20 years, was elected to the office of Chair. At EMBARQ Logistics, Woody is responsible for the development and design of supply chain and logistics solutions for both the company’s core business as well as for non-affiliate customers. A 20-year logistics and supply chain management veteran, he has held management positions with Hallmark Cards, Yellow/Roadway Corporation, Delfour, and Sprint. Richard Murphy, president and CEO of Murphy Warehouse Company and CSCMP mem- ber for over 20 years, was named to the office of Immediate Past Chair. Originally trained as a landscape architect, he joined the Murphy organization in 1983, overseeing the company’s growth to one of the area’s largest logistics firms. Murphy’s expertise ranges from logistics and transportation to sustainable design and real estate development. Robert B. Silverman, vice president, IT business systems for Tommy Hilfiger USA, Inc., was elected to the office of Board Chair Elect. Silverman oversees the development and support of information technology systems that support product design, supply chain operations, and finance at Tommy Hilfiger USA, one of the worlds’ most recognized fashion apparel brands. He has been a CSCMP member for nearly 15 years. Keith Turner, general manager, alumina and bauxite sales for ALCOA, Inc. and 15-year CSCMP member, was elected to the office of Board Vice-Chair. At ALCOA, Turner is responsible for the purchase and sale of bauxite and smelter grade alumina. He also manages the Alcoa Steamship organization. Nancy W. Nix, director of the Supply and Value Chain Center and associate professor of supply chain practice at the MJ Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas, was elected to the office of Secretary and Treasurer. She teaches global sup- ply chain management, supply chain information technology, and supply chain strategy courses at TCU. She has been a CSCMP member for approximately 15 years. Immediately after the election, CSCMP Chair, Roger Woody, announced the appointment of the remaining chairs that complete the 2008-2009 Board of Directors slate. Remko van Hoek, professor, Cranfield School of Management, UK, was named Planning Chair; Greg Chalkley, director, global trade compliance at Texas Instruments, Inc.—Roundtable Chair; Susan Rider, president of Rider & Associates—Marketing Chair; Jamie Mahoney, VP sup- ply chain excellence at Auxis Management Technology & Solutions—Membership Chair, North America; Jan Willem Proper, associate professor, NHTV Breda University of Professional Educa- tion—Membership Chair, International; and John A. Caltagirone, vice president of global supply chain strategy at The Revere Group—Program Chair. Chris Moberg, Chair Marketing Department at Ohio University and Theodore Stank, John H. Dove Distinguished Professor of Logistics at The University of Tennessee were each named to the position of Education Strategies Co-Chair; Susan Oaks, vice president of A.T. Kearney, Inc.— Research Strategies Chair; Sarah Giffin, operations improvement manager at CEVA Logistics and Richard Jackson, executive vice president, Limited Logistics Services, were each named Chair at Large. Rick D. Blasgen serves as president and CEO of CSCMP. Founded in 1963, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals is the pre- eminent association for individuals involved in supply chain management. CSCMP provides global educational, career development, and networking opportunities to over 8,500 members.
