Additional Tips

Leave a little room for souvenirs. If youre going on vacation and expect to bring back some goodies for yourself and your loves ones, dont pack your bag to the brim or you wont have any room to tote the plunder back. If you plan on bringing a ton of stuff home, pack a collapsible bag inside of your bigger bag, and you can fill it with your booty. Mix it up with your travel buddy. If youre traveling with your bud or your girl, its a good idea to pack half of your clothes in her bag and half of her clothes in your bag. That way in case one of your bags gets lost while traveling, youll still have access to some of your clothes. Steam it up. Its hard to avoid wrinkling your clothes during transit. When you arrive to your destination, its best to unpack right away so you can let your clothes relax before creases and wrinkles get a chance to set. If you still have some wrinkles in your clothes, hang them up in the bathroom while youre taking a hot steamy shower. This should help reduce any wrinkling.

Lost/Stolen Passport
You should report the theft of a passport to the local police so you can get a police report. Youll need the report for insurance purposes and to obtain a replacement travel document from us. You should note that some police authorities will not issue a report for loast passports. In such cases we do not require a police report, but you need to demonstrate that you have at least tried to report the theft. If your passport is lost or stolen you should contact the nearest British Embassy or consulate Youll need to complete an LS01 form for your passport to be cancelled. Identity theft is a growing crime. To protect your identity please bring or send this form to us as soon as possible. You do not need to wait until you apply for a new passport

Staying Safe
Try not to carry large amounts of money or obvious symbols of wealth, and keep your wallet or purse out of sight (back pockets are a big no). Pickpockets tend to operate in crowded areas, for example the public bus, so in busy areas make sure that you carry your bags where you can see them - for example a backpack, even a small daypack, is extremely vulnerable. Wallets, mobile phones, cameras, jewellery and laptops are tempting targets for thieves. Make sure that you protect your passport, tickets, visa documents etc by carrying them on your person, preferably underneath clothing in a pouch or money belt. Never leave valuables lying around your hotel room or in your car. And if you are backpacking or staying in hostels buy a padlock so that you can secure your possessions in lockers, or enquire about a safe deposit at the hotel. Carry a photocopy of your passport and other vital documents separately be particularly careful at night. At all times try to stick to busy, well-lit places.

American Business Meetings

American Business meetings are often described as aggressive. They have a confrontational approach which involves debating about the relevant issues, they dont take into account the personal relationship they may have with another colleague. The meetings normally include formal presentations by one or more colleague. The presentations are a vital element of the meeting, they should be relevant and well researched, being delivered in a positive, enthusiastic and committed manner. This process is seen as a opportunity to impress. Particpants of the meeting can be from a seperate location and often done via conference call or video link. Be aware that some particpants may be foreign.

Chinese Business Meetings

When doing business in China it is common that you will be involved in a series of meetings. The meetings are about making business relationships and exchanging the relevant information. The decisions are never made in the first meeting nor in the same room, the relevant people will go away and discuss to come to an agreement. This process means that you have to be patient. When in a meeting you should introduce yourself to each indivdual by rank in the company along with a handshake; the chinese handshake will be light and lingering as it is impolite to look people striaght in the eye, you should look down, lowering your eyes to show respect. Exchanging your business card is a nessecity you must do in the first meeting.
