Vapour pressure: Vapor pressure or equilibrium vapor pressure is the pressure of a vapor in thermodynamic equilibrium with its condensed

phases in a closed system. All liquids have a tendency to evaporate, and some solids can sublimate into a gaseous form. Vice versa, all gases have a tendency to condense back to their liquid form, or deposit back to solid form, as long as the temperature is below their critical temperature or decomposition temperature. In plain terms, a liquid evaporates at all pressures below its vapor pressure, while remaining stable at pressure above the vapor pressure. REID VAPOUR PRESSURE: It is absolute vapor pressure exerted by a liquid at 100 F. It is a measure of volatility. Reid vapor pressure (RVP) is a common measure of the volatility of gasoline. It is defined as the absolute vapor pressure exerted by a liquid at 100 F (37.8 C) as determined by the test method ASTM-D-323. The test method applies to volatile crude oil and volatile nonviscous petroleum liquids, except liquified petroleum gases. The matter of vapor pressure is important relating to the function and operation of gasoline powered, especially carbureted, vehicles. High levels of vaporization are desirable for winter starting and operation and lower levels are desirable in avoiding vapor lock during summer heat. Fuel cannot be pumped when there is vapor in the fuel line (summer) and winter starting will be more difficult when liquid gasoline in the combustion chambers has not vaporized. Thus, oil refineries manipulate the Reid Vapor Pressure seasonally specifically to maintain gasoline engine reliability. The Reid vapor pressure (RVP) differs slightly from the true vapor pressure (TVP) of a liquid due to small sample vaporization and the presence of water vapor and air in the confined space of the test equipment. That is, the RVP is the absolute vapor pressure and the TVP is the partial vapor pressure. No, Reid vapor pressure and true vapor pressure are not the same. Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP) is a method of characterizing the vapor pressure of petroleum products. It is very widely used in the petroleum refining industry because it is a very simple and very quick test method. The test method is spelled out in ASTM method D323-06 which specifies that it be done at 100 deg F (37.8 deg C).
Reid Vapor Pressure Cylinder Bath Reid Vapor Pressure Cylinder Bath. Constant temperature water baths designed for Reid Vapor Pressure determinations of liquid petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gases (LPG). Immerses vapor pressure apparatus at the proper depth per ASTM specifications. Reid Vapor Pressure Cylinder Reid Vapor Pressure Cylinder. Polished stainless steel test cylinders for vapor pressure tests of liquid petroleum products, volatile crude oil, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Each cylinder consists of upper chamber and lower chamber in required 4:1 volume ratio. Reid Vapor Pressure Gauge Reid Vapor Pressure Gauge. Choose from several models, ranging up to 300psi. Large dial for precise readings and repeatability. Each unit has a full diameter opening of the Bourdon tube for complete draining of sample. Plastic case seals against moisture and vapor; clear plastic lens with threaded bezel for easy removal; handle.
