It is an information management tool designed to allow you to effortlessly store and retrieve your engineering designs and associated documentation. 3. Installation components
DesignDataManager consists of two key components: Servers The server-side software consists of the underlying Database Server, the File Servers and the License server. This software is installed only on the Server and the Client PC's all communicate with these applications. The database server is used to store all meta-data on the models, drawings and other physical files which are stored to DesignDataManager. Also stored are pointers to the physical files and their location in the file vaults. The file vault stores the physical files themselves in a secure, central location which is not easily accessible from the clients, without the use of DesignDataManager client software. Clients The client-side software consists of the visible application user interface. DesignDataManager Office, Professional or Web clients. This software is required only on PC's where access to the information stored within DesignDataManager is required. In order to view meta-data and / or the physical files, the clients must communicate with the server via a TCP/IP based networking protocol. The core functionality provided by the clients are the following: Add, delete, modify meta-data of records. Add, remove files from records. Release, revision, send records and folders. Audit history of records and folders. Full system querying. Full access control and release management. Reporting of Bill of Materials, associated docs, drawings, etc... Relationship building for Bill of Materials, document references, etc... Physical file import and export.

Listed below are some common terms used in DDM Workbench The concept of the WorkBench is fundamental in the application of DesignDataManager to the working practices of your organisation. Each user in DesignDataManager will have his/her own WorkBench, which can be described as the users own personal work area.

Design Data Manager Implementation Project Folders DDM users are able to extend the theory of the WorkBench into what is known as Project Folders. WorkBenches, through daily use, become cluttered especially if the user is working on multiple projects at the same time. To allow DDM users to work with data which is organised into specific folders within DDM, multiple ProjectFolders are available as an alternative to the users single WorkBench. When using Project Folders, users can Reference objects to an infinite amount of Projects. This is essential functionality when objects within projects are being crossed-referenced. Vault The core concept behind the data management capabilities of DesignDataManager is that of the electronic vault. Although a database is used to store all the information and links between Parts, Assemblies, Drawings and Documents, a file Vault is used to store all the physical files. The positioning of files within the Vault is handled entirely by DesignDataManager and although the users can manually browse the Vault, the contents are of no use without the additional control and interpretation provided by DesignDataManager.
Check-out A file is copied from the vault and stored in a users workbench to be viewed or work on. Once a user checks out a file, it is locked to that particular users workbench, thus eliminating the possibility of the data integrity of any model being compromised. Check-in The modified files will be putting back to the vault. The system will create a new release for the modified files which is used for the version control. Search The Search feature built into DDM. It utilizes the Microsoft SQL Server database system enables users to perform fast and powerful data searches.

5. Customization
Users A user account consists of a user ID, password, email address, group membership and access privileges. The users of DDM can be combined into several groups. This will be discussed in the following section. The users of DDM are:

Groups simplify the management of the Pro/INTRALINK environment by providing a single mechanism for changing or updating users throughout the entire system. 7. PEDM System Evaluation: Implementation Plan Objective

To identify opportunities for improvement in the following areas: o Engineering productivity & effectiveness o Product & engineering information security To define long and short term data management goals and client requirements. To set accurate expectations with regards to the capabilities of the system. To clarify what can or cannot be achieved during and after the system evaluation period. To provide the client with an opportunity for a thorough evaluation of the systems capabilities and suitability to their work environment.
Evaluation Method
The system evaluation will be a paid implementation. Charges are outlined in the quotation attached in this document. These charges are a nominal fee to cover the cost of installing and configuring the system to clients requirements.
Installation and Configuration Fees

Once the evaluation period is over and the client decides to proceed with a full implementation of the solution/system, eXpedio Solutions Sdn Bhd will waive the installation and configuration charges by providing a discount equal to the amount initially received for the implementation.
Money Back Guarantee

eXpedio Solutions Sdn Bhd will refund ALL implementation and installation charges should the solution/system fail to meet the expectations and goals that were initially agreed upon with the client at the start of the evaluation period. IMPORTANT NOTE: Should the client decide not to purchase the system for reasons unrelated to the performance of the system, a full refund will not be awarded.
