Sacrament of the Sick In the event of serious illness or medical emergency, Anointing of the Sick and Eucharist may be arranged by contacting the Parish Office. Call (949) 257-8017 for a medical emergency after 8 p.m. Sacrament of Baptism Parents of infants requesting information about Baptism may contact the Faith Formation Office, 496-6011. Infant Baptisms are celebrated on the first and third Sunday of each month following catechesis for parents and godparents of candidates. Celebration of Christian Funerals At the time of death, a family member should contact the parish office, as soon as possible, to arrange the date and time for the Funeral Liturgy. Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Adults requesting information about full initiation and communion with the Roman Catholic Church (the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation) may contact the Faith Formation Office , 496-6011. Sacrament of Matrimony The Sacrament presumes active sacramental participation on the part of one or both persons. Couples must begin preparation for their Sacrament at least six months prior to their proposed wedding date. Please call the Parish Office for more information. Eucharistic Adoration On the first and third Monday of each month we gather in prayer and praise before the Blessed Sacrament. The Diocesan intention is that of an increase of vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

Third Sunday of Advent

Meditating on the Word

The feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, who is so loved by us, should be, before all, a good occasion to present and celebrate Our Lady for her greatness because she is the Mother of God. She is also the supreme model for following Christ, she is the first disciple, open to his works: may it be done, and she invites all of us to do the same: Do whatever He tells you When saying: I am the handmaid of the Lord, may it be done to me according to your word is not something just said in passing, but it is Marys program for life; and for that reason she deserved the praise of Elizabeth: Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled She is the first missionary of Christ and the first one to announce Him by visiting the house of Zachariah when He was in her womb. The chosen people, represented by the shepherds, and the pagan people, represented by the wise men from the east, found the savior in the arms of Mary. Because of her request at the marriage at Cana, she was responsible for Jesus first miracle, and his disciples began to believe in Christ. Mary was at the foot of the cross, where she received from Jesus the request to be the Mother of all human beings. She was also with the apostles at the birth of the Church, when they all received the gifts of the Holy Spirit the day of Pentecost. The feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe should not become an occasion to stimulate useless patriotism, nor should it be used like a platform to establish useless comparisons. This is a time for all of us to make an honest commitment to Christian life. We already know that Mary is the perfect example of being open and available to the will of God. She enunciates Him in her canticle: For He has looked upon His handmaids lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled Nevertheless, we cannot separate this celebration from the liturgical season that the universal Church is celebrating, Advent, which consists of seeking an encounter with Christ through the different means in which Christ manifests himself to us today: His Word, our community, the liturgy.

FEAST OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE The schedule for the celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is as following: on Monday, December 12th, we will have the maanitas (serenade) at 4:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 5:30 a.m. After Mass, we will have available hot drinks and Mexican tamales. Then at 7 p.m. we will have another Mass with a play of the apparitions of our Lady of Guadalupe. You are all welcome to join us in these celebrations held in the San Felipe Chapel. POSADAS AT SAN FELIPE The Posadas this year will start on Friday, December 16th with a live nativity play. There will be two presentations: 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. From the 17th until the 23rd there will be the traditional Posadas starting at 7 p.m., followed by hot drinks, piatas and candies for the children. You are all most welcomed.

idly approaching the glorious celebration of Christmas. We are happy to announce our eighteenth annual Giving Tree which is placed in the vestibule of the Church starting December 3rd.. Instead of Christmas decorations, the Tree will be decorated with envelopes containing the names of needy families in our community. If helping a family this year will enrich your Christmas, this is the perfect opportunity.

Inside each envelope are the names of family members and ages of the children. You may choose any envelope. Usually food is provided to the family so they may prepare their Holiday meal, and please give gifts to the family, especially the children. Do what feels right for your family and experience the joy of a truly Giving Christmas. Please be sure to contact the family ahead of time to get an idea of their needs and verify ALL information listed in the envelope. There are names and phone numbers of Spanish interpreters with the family information that can assist you as needed. It is also VERY important that you enter all information into the Christmas Giving Tree Book on the table by the tree. Another option is to choose an envelope from our
other Tree. You may donate scrip, cash or checks which will be used to provide food and necessities to needy families. There will be a box in the Church office for these donations. We will also have a Toy Bin in Church throughout the Advent Season. All toys should be new or hand crafted and left unwrapped. The Giving Tree can be one way this Christmas for you and your family to glorify the Lord. In the words of Jesus, Whatever you do to the least of my brethren, you do unto me. To pray at a consistent hour for Vocations to the Priesthood & Religious Life, and to pray for your Family and Peace in our world. Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference & Christian Service Ministry help hundreds of persons on a regular basis by providing lodging, food and financial assistance of all kinds. It is not necessary for abortion to have been your direct experience. We are in special need of those who are bi-lingual, bi-literate and bi -cultural in Spanish, Vietnamese, and Korean. The sensitivity of this ministry does require some formal training. Our Diocesan Institute for Pastoral Ministry (IPM) is offering a special 8 week course Women at the Well Ministries, Course # M-424 beginning February 2012.
