February ye -29th, 71776, I, Robert Patton, of the County of Kent on Delaware, yeoman. Being sick and weak in body But of perfect Mind and Memory, thanks be given to God for it therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to die, Do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say Principally and first of all I give and Recommend My Soul unto the Hands of Almighty God that give it and my body Recommend to the Earth to be buried in Decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors nothing Doubting But at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again By the Mighty Power of God, and as touching Such Worldly Estate with which It has pleased God to Bless me with in this life I give and demise and Dispose of the same in the following form and manner Viz: I do nominate constitute and appoint my two sons William and Andrew Patton to be my whole and sole Executors of my whole estate in the manner as follows, Viz: I give and bequeath unto My well Beloved wife Mary Patton A white mare, Bridle and Saddle, one feather Bed which came with her, two chairs, one chest and a stand, two small Iron pots, a cow and calve and Dwelling house and garden During her widowhood. William Patton to give her fifteen Bushels of corn and four bushels of wheat During her widowhood to be paid By both yearly to the above Legacies in Lieu of her third of my estate, etc. Item. I give and bequeath Unto my Eldest son William, two hundred and fifty acres of land on the west side of the Division line, a negro man called Jack to him, his heirs or assigns forever, one still forever,

and whit I have given him already the aforesaid William Patton, is to give 2S0 acres of land to his son Robert Patton at his death, etc. Item. I give and Bequeath unto my second son Andrew Patton, one Negro man named Peter to him, his heirs or assigns forever, and my Best Suit of wearing apparel forever with what I have already given him, etc. Item. I give and Bequeath unto my third son John Patton, the other part of my land on the east Side of the above Mentioned line to him and his heirs or assigns forever with what he had already received, etc. Item. I give and bequeath Unto my Daughter Margaret, a Negro Girl names Else to her and the heirs of her body forever and her Increase forever and half value of a Negro Girl called. Rachel forever with what she already received. Item. I give and Bequeath unto my daughter Mary Davis a Negro Girl called Ruth her and her Increase to her or-the heirs of her body forever and a Negro wench called Rachel. She is to pay the half value of the said Negro wench to her sister Margaret with what she has already received. I order also that of the Residue of my Goods and Chattels My Lawful Debts be first paid and the Remainder to be paid to my two daughters Margaret-and Mary. In testimony hereof I set my hand and seal this 29th Day of January one thousand seven hundred and seventy six 1776
