SEMESTER 1
SESI 2011/2012
1.0
OBJECTIVES The objective of this course is to introduce fundamental concept of engineering experimentation to the students with the theories and basic principles of fluid mechanics, mechanics of machines, thermal combustions and control systems.
2.0 LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of this course, students should be able to: LO1 Conduct the experiment in accordance with standard practice. (P4, A3) LO2Interpret and analyze collected data corresponding to the relevant theoretical knowledge. (C4) LO3 Function effectively as individual or in a group during experimental session. (TS, LS, A3) LO4 Write a good report that explains the experimental finding with standard technical writing format. (CS) LO5 Present and defend experimental findings in a seminar confidently. (CS)
3.0 SYNOPSIS This course aims to provide the students with an understanding of theories and basic principles in gear efficiency, turbine system, refrigeration, visualization of flow in fluid, position control, system modelling and industrial process. Course equips the students with knowledge on machinery, energy efficiency, fluid characteristics, and industrial control systems which are important in engineering applications.
